The Flying Fortress. A name that conjures up images of brave young men conducting daylight raids deep in enemy territory, far from home. The B-17 was bristling with defensive weapons and could also carry a heavy bomb load to distant locations. It rapidly became the symbol of US air power of early 1940s. We take you inside the B-17F to expose how it worked, how it was operated and the tactics that made it a formidable offensive and defensive weapon. It’s reputation and achievements have made the B-17 one of the most iconic and recognizable aircraft in the history of aviation.

Świetny materiał, nagrywaj dalej. Wszystko wytłumaczone jasno i przejrzyście. Bardzo mi się podoba.
9:15 That's not how the Norden bombsight worked. The bombardier would keep the target in his sight the entire time on the approach by adjusting 2 knobs (for course and rate). When the correct position was reached to release the bombs, the sight itself would trigger the drop, not the bombardier. This is consistently being portrayed wrong in media, but I was hoping at least you guys would get it right.
Bombadiers were also officers

B-17F był napędzany przez 4 × Wright R-1820 Cyclone, najczęściej warianty z rodziny R-1820-G102/G105, zależnie od serii produkcyjnej. To nadal 9-cylindrowe, jednorzędowe silniki gwiazdowe.
Jeżeli więc na modelu B-17F widzisz wyraźnie dwa rzędy cylindrów, to prawdopodobnie model 3D jest błędny albo przedstawia coś innego niż R-1820.
Exceptional video! Kudos!
beautiful video but….
You say 9 cylinder engine and show 14 cylinder 2-row…..
I only mention it as an animator as you didn't need to model/render so much………….
Is aluminum good? We need good quality aluminum to make pots. 😂
How do you manage to preserve only 1 combat aircraft out of 12000!?
You should add that the Memphis bell can be seen at the airforce museum in dayton ohio
My dad was a waist gunner in a B17 over Europe. He flew his requisite 25 missions, and then re-upped for 7 more. Before the P51 fighter support they were losing 15-20% of bombers per mission over Germany.
12:24 That must be the loudest thing ever though. Rumbling engines, blasting machines guns and heavy wind all into your ears. You'd go deaf.
We should get some German bomber videos next 💖
Thanks David. Beateful job.
Could you do 1 for the Lancaster bomber so that we could compare with the b-17?
Same yarn hub narrator?
My father-in-law was the navigator in a B 17 first in the Mediterranean, then out of England. He flew in bombers also in Korea and he was still in the Air Force in Vietnam flying in C135 refueling. He died in 1972 as a Lieutenant Colonel. My wife was 10 years old at the time. He flew in the first daylight bombing of Berlin. We have all of his metals. We also have a rare B-17 sterling silver brooch my mother-in-law had in World War II. I’ve never seen anything like it anywhere.
My father was one of those firendy fire all this 50 in your not just like the some
My oldfriend was a tail gunner on a 17. He went down in France and was a POW till Patton got there.
