Been a short time subscriber but I’ve binged watch the whole project on saving this vessel, you both are doing an amazing job! Shaun can you please wear eye protection when doing work and wearing gloves when touching insulation also food for thought could you guys organise a bin or a trailer near the vessel to make your life easier to remove all your rubbish. I am well aware that anything can be fixed. But it doesn't mean it's worth repairing or should be repaired.
I have taken on vehicle restoration projects that quickly spiral out of hand. Sometimes, you just have to call it and start with something in better shape.
You will have to replace the port and starboard front side windows aswell Shaun if the inside of them get wet or damp they will rust because of the grinding you did you should have covered them up bud
The first thing i did to our "cap" is
lot layers of epoxyprimer, and the 40 degree angle on the outside filled with epoxy putty to a radius that can be cleaned easy to prevent this to happen. good job you cut it out.
Wondering what you bought the ship for oure new bare casco was 37k delivered in epoxy primer. since you're replacing everything woudn't this be a better choice? (a bit late now i know) @motorjacht_nomade exept the bare casco we're doing it al oure selves for three years now, this winter the interior. it's a lot of work.

Of course it will end but sadly you won't be around to see it, underground or on top as ashes. Plus the amount of damage you have added it will more than likely be broke up, sale what can be sold, and scrap the rest.

Tearing down is easy, rebuilding the interior is going to be difficult and time consuming.
Why don't you use something like osmo to convert rust before painting?

When you get all the welding and paintwork done, you could just restore one bedroom, a toilet shower and the galley, and start using the boat.
Ship Happens have taken 5 years so far, and now have all the fitting out to do! Two more years? Could you take on some temporary labour to remove fitments and clean back the rust, so that you can just weld the repairs? Ship happens have.
Didn’t know there was a Blue Moon rising this time of the year thanks for filming it for us 😂😂😂the way Rachel swings the hammer you were lucky it didn’t hit the camera 😂😂 , a question are you going to sandblast the rust inside then coat it with rust rid or just metal primer undercoat . At which point in replacing the steel does it become a new boat? lol
a great method for maintaining shapes when replacing old steel is lifting templates and the use of pitch marks, if you put a 50, 75 or 100mm pitchmark away from the steels actual position, when you complete all the hotwork bringing it back to shiney steel, those marks are still there for you to work to. on an added note, it really does worry me how many people i see on youtube with a big disregard to health implications through lack of PPE, especially respiratory equipment, please please get into the habit of using it when grinding rust and old paint

Please don’t take this the wrong way…I mean it as a most sincere complement. Rachel has a magnificent Bum. She showed it off wonderfully as she was setting about the Cabinetry. Seriously though Sean, I don’t think you would have taken this project on if it wasn’t for your strong partner in crime. Power to your Elbows. It will be amazing when you have finished.
Ladies when you're helping your husbands with a project it helps if you look at him just before you do any demolition. Looking at him will anger you enough to give you the energy to destroy everything. xD

Hi what I did to save money on steel angel ,I did buy 50 cc scooters from Walmart and them and sold the scooters and used the steel angel in boxing and shipping the scooters ,
I think you're doing a great job. My boat is fiberglass so no rust. I can't say I would ever tackle a steel boat but you surely have it under control. Keep going. I look forward to British Friday with Ship Happens and Blue Steel.
