I love your video, my only issue is you sometimes use only imperial measure that 90% of the world is not using. In this instance, the distance traveled by wafers was in miles.

What your fab needs is a Genuine, Bona fide, electrified, overhead semiconductor monorail.
I worked OHT and AGV AMHS at Intel Ronler for about a decade, '03-'12. You were surprisingly accurate about most details.
A "Super Hot Lot" was called a "Rocket Lot" at Intel. Difuku equipment is MEGA HOT TRASH! Not a very good design, requiring more down time. The same PCB has 4 connectors all with the same reference number (4x CN4) making maintenance a terrible experience. Should have looked into the Shinko -> Asyst -> Murata purchase sequence. Some of my first experience in corporate mergers and intentional bankruptcy, I lost >$4K to corporate greed.
FOUPs and FOSBs are easlily the best thing to watch through the fab window! Intel's D1C has a long line of windows on the second floor against the RA2 office building, and any walk to lunch was a full show.

Back in the late 90's, a lot of my college friends had a parttime job at the Philips fab in Nijmegen, The Netherlands.
Their jobs consisted of hauling trollies with foups around. Lifting the right foup in the bay at the right station (this was manually written down on a blocknote), then manually entering the foup number at the terminal next to the station.
This made good money for an entry level parttime job.
But as this video shows, automation quickly replaced these workers.
A video on Keyence would be great, one of the biggest companies in Japan yet almost never spoken about.

a parte que eu acho mais complicada de todas no processo de fabricação de chips , é o controle de espessura e óxido , só de tirar a maquina de corrosão de óxido da equação e tentar reproduzir ttl e rtl dtl hoje em dia seria um caos tão grande , que destruiria a indústria de chips em poucos dias , porque seria impossivel ter 10% da densidade que existe hoje , principalmente pelo calor nas junções se tu poder fazer um vídeo sobre isso , obs : se poder colocar dublagem altomática para português brasil seria incrivel

total pedantry – the older 200mm boxes you showed on a cart are not FOUPs, they are *wafer boxes*. They don't open in the front 🙂 In addition to the ergonomics, the bigger wafers are more likely to break when mishandled or moved around roughly. Manually handled or recovered 300mm wafers (when they aren't just scrapped) have measurably worse edge yield.

Bringing back some great memories. In the 80s I moved a portion of an AT&T factory over to JIT. Did a lot of simulation and queueing analysis. Super fun times in retrospect. Material handling is fun stuff.
v2 AGV used a robotic arm. v1 AGVs used… those were dark times for the fab workers.

You did not mentionned the MUSIC they play when pods are getting up or down !!! This is quite cute – until you hear it for a thousand times x) . Another very niche and geek topic would be the music / sounds you can hear in a fab. For instance some taiwanese fab have bar readers making cash machine sounds. Very explicit !!

I used to have those wafers in several different sizes and if you accidentally break one they are sharp as heck.
They have a similar thing in Diamond 💎 processing buildings.
I don't know what came first, but overhead is also common in modern car factories. What has always struck me how close these foups are over head and no physical barriers. I know the aren't wheel and tires or seats, but I'm pretty sure one of these landing on your head would ruin your day. Plus cost how many 100s of thousands of $?
And the vehicles move up and down floors!
