Mostly dry trade wind weather will continue through the work week, but a developing tropical system about 900 miles east-southeast of the Big Island is expected to become the main weather concern heading into the weekend. The National Hurricane Center gives the system a 90% chance of development within the next day or so. While the exact track and impacts remain uncertain, Hawaii could see stronger and potentially damaging winds, heavy rainfall, flash flooding and large surf. Fire weather concerns will also increase Friday as winds strengthen and humidity drops.

The problem with any storm is the cone of uncertainty. All that matters 99% of the time with some admittedly big exceptions like Iniki in 1991 middle of the cone is where the fun is just because you are in the cone doesn't mean you'll feel any effects. Cooler water will prevent rapid intensification and this buggah is likely to skate by us to the south. I can guarantee you that we will get hit in September through November like the islands have never seen before probably back to back to back. The Super El Nino will be in full effect then and rapid intensification of most low pressure events will cause dah big kine buggah's to form. 🌀
watch out, mauna kea will stop this…
no worrries hpd when install speed bumps on the weather that should do the trick
