erm actually instead of throwing it away you should hold both the power button and the connect controller button on the console itself for a long time until you see a screen you haven't seen before and click reset console, then reset everything.
How does pulling the power cable out and then holding the button do anything?

Guys before doing what I’m about to say make sure you check the exact date that this comment was made because it might have expired but if you dump your Xbox in water and start slamming a hammer onto the Xbox symbol then that should reset all of your lag and trust me, it actually works. You should try.
