So nothing was solved.
Um….this is a simple civil suit against the neighbor that had the tree. Why is this on the news? This exact same thing happens to people daily and it is solved in court.
Why is the legal owner of that property being named? Records are available. Where is this absent legal owner? Poor reporting. Whom are they (news) protecting? Disgusting city service.
Keep the tree and sell to woodworking company
She has a receipt for her letter. He knows nothing but SHE should call HIM. ? Municipal BS
She's just asking for a little help to take care of her NEIGHBORS TREES that damaged her property? Seriously? No one owns the abandoned property where the trees were? I have neighbors that could care less what comes from their property that could damage their neighbors property.
She may be overlooking an opportunity to own the vacant land.
So some of you think the taxpayers should pay for the damages ? I’d pass on that. She needs to do some research on the neighboring property and take the property owner to court. If the city owns it then the taxpayers are on the hook.
It's Called act of God. It's not necessarily fair it's just the way it is.
Sounds like this lady has no reason to pay property taxes as she has zero representation from those stolen funds!!!

Large trees near homes and power lines are a menace. Little trees are wonderful.
Sue the owner of the property and then put a lean on the home. Foreclose the home, sell it, and get your money and legal fees.
I get alot of local news around the country on my feed. Im going to keep saying the same thing. The politicions that are supposed to work for us no longer fear us. This is why every city govt is corrupt and doesnt care about us.
"IF" she has homeowners insurance that should take care of most of the damage.

You have to be more demanding when dealing with insurance companies and the city officials. Document everything and show up at their office if you need to. The squeaky wheel gets the grease
My town in southwest Ohio is pretty good at taking care of issues like this and removed one of my trees that was hit by lightening years ago. Not all of our communities are run by knuckleheads.
It's like this anywhere you live. This is your property tax dollars at work.
Unfortunately anything that falls on your property is your responsibility. Our property floods and crap from the farm fields was up in it every year. I told our trustees I'm too old to be cleaning it up. TS.

In NC it's considered an act of God, and you are responsible for everything on your side of the property line.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was a Learing center registered to that abandoned property.
Thats the problem I have neighbor have dead tree each year big chuncks fall on my side and the city won't do anything not even make the neighbor maintain it.
Why is it the town's responsibility? What a bunch of socialist nonsense. No town ever goes onto any private property to do tree removal. Give me a break. The "victim mentality" never ends in this world, and I am so tired of it.
That nice woman should be awarded with the neighboring property to keep or sell.

Get a lawyer. Not any lawyer, but one who specializes in property law.
I have two trees grown out of the same stump pretty good size my neighbors big popular fell in between my two trees. So being they are populars and if they split one will fall on my house but my neighbor doesn’t care. Being I’m not able to take them down I put a big chain around them for now. Maybe they want split.

Why don't individual citizens realize they need to make campaign contributions to have any official to listen to them. The system is setup to only work for bribes. Simply.

So this is a little complicated. If your neighbor has a tree, any part of it that overhangs the property line onto your property becomes your part of the tree. Let's say a branch is overhanging onto your property, breaks and crushes part of your fence, well that's your responsibility to fix. This also means, however, that you have the right to trim any part of your neighbor's tree that overhangs onto your property line.
Think of it from your neighbor's point of view. If their tree is on their property completely, but 10 years later, starts growing onto your side, how are they supposed to solve that problem? They'd have to go on your property to do so, right? So what I've seen all throughout the US to handle that is courts tell you to trim anything that overhangs onto your property.
Now what if the tree is completely on your neighbor's land but the wind blows it over to your land and it takes out your fence? I believe that that's considered an act of god and your homeowner's insurance should take care of that. The only time you can go to your neighbor is if an expert comes out and says, "Hey, that tree is going to fall in the next storm". If the neighbor is then informed of that, does nothing and the tree does indeed fall, I believe they're liable in that instance.
So in this case, I don't think the woman will get any money for the damage that already happened but can demand that the trees deemed likely to come down be taken down.
I'm surprised they didn't find a way to fine her. This is why I live in the country, not the city!!!!!
How much money is going to the migrants instead…!
Because it's going to land on your stuff… Not the taxpayers stuff.
Why should the taxpayers be responsible for protecting your stuff?
