e-opala used to sell their excess to consumers, guys like me who like to tinker with electronics and always scrouging for spare parts. will the warehouse/store front be open to sell the excess? I'll come by and do my part lol

nothing but problems working with the state or sity. I'm surprised to see all those computers. Each has a little gold in them.
The state should not be paying someone to recycle it.. The recycler should be doing it for a profit not on the taxpayers back…

E-waste continues to pile up because there are no universal standards for how circuit boards fit into devices or where ports are located. With standardized designs, users could upgrade only the components that need replacing and continue reusing the rest. Of course, this could also reduce the number of new electronics sold.

In addition, it so so silly that we only recycle # 1 and 2 plastic, and do not have commercial composting. Only recently they are testing food waste in the green bins in SOME areas.
A lot of this is lack of education and awareness, which what you are doing here. When people don't see the problem themselves, they think it doesn't exist, and cannot fathom the accumulation of their small and quick actions. If people could see the mountains of trash they make everyday, they would actually think about it. There is a ZERO WASTE community in Japan, because of the toxic air of the garbage that was accumulating around their houses. Thank you for pointing this out to the people who don't think that deeply about their actions. Many might care, but are busy juggling other aspect of their lives, they don't realize what is happening.
I can take all those electronics and extract the Gold from them 😂😂😂😂😂

The desire for progress, but no plan for obsolescence equals environmental disaster. We can't fill it in a landfills forever.
Try repairing and reusing some of them. A lot of them probably can be fixed.and.repurposed instead of tossing it.
This, is by design.
One of the main reasons is that consumers (people who use their money to buy things…) choose fancy looking items instead of durable, repairable products that "look clunky" or "yucky." For example, phones with removable batteries, versus phones that are much sleeker looking with no user replaceable batteries. And numerous consumers buy the latest greatest smartphones when they don't even use 90% of the phone's functionality (and never did). As long as consumers are willing to pay money to buy form instead of function, this will continue because why should profit-making companies choose to do otherwise? If people are willing to replace their phones every MONTH you can be sure companies will fill that demand.
There are parts that might still work but no one could or would check because companies have outsourced their IT department.

The entire world is a dumpster, not just Hawaii. The whole "reduce, reuse, recycle" charade was invented by industry to make us feel okay buying more and more junk.
Recyling shouldn't be the consumers issue. The corporations should have to recycle their products and make products from recyclable materials.
The corporations love recyling because the obligation falls on the consumer and the government.
A victim of it's own success, yep, should continue throwing it in landfill, cover it over and forget about it 🎣

Put them on a freighter and ship them to the companies that made them for recycling. Companies should be obligated to accept them. And we need “Right to repair” laws.
Don't forget about the 7 data centers already in our back yards polluting water, air and noise.
Too many electronics being manufactured to only last a short amount of time. Even if someone wanted to, can get stuff fixed. As my gramma would have said, “poho”.🤨
