Ads You See Online Are Now Police Surveillance

The ads on your phone aren’t just trying to sell you something. The same tracking systems behind them can also reveal where you sleep, work, worship, shop, travel, and law enforcement agencies can buy access to that information.

This video explores how advertising data became a powerful surveillance tool. Services like Fog Reveal allow investigators to search location histories gathered from ordinary apps, often without contacting Apple, Google, or your phone carrier. Instead, the data flows through advertising SDKs, brokers, and real-time bidding systems before ending up in databases that can track hundreds of millions of devices. We examine the legal loopholes that make this possible, why supposedly anonymous location data can often be traced back to a real person, and how innocent people can be swept into investigations simply because their phones appeared near the wrong place at the wrong time.

Your smartphone isn’t only showing you ads. It may also be building a permanent map of your life. One that can be bought by people you never agreed to share it with.

  1. I DONT MIND THIS TECHNOLOGY DUE TO THE FACT IM NOT A CROOK FASCIST MASS MURDERER'S LIKE THE CLINTONS OBAMA'S OR TRUMP AND HIS INSTALLED ON RIGHT COHORTS TO BE SUCH A TYRANT! THEY DONT HAVE TO HAVE CELL PHONES WHILE WE WHERE AND STILL FORCED TO FOR JOBS RESIDENCES PLUS HAD TO GO PAPERLESS! SO THERE IS NO PAPER TRAIL WHEN THEY GASLIGHT AND MAKE US HOMELESS AND EITHER BCOMMIT CRIMES OR OD DEATH OR DO AS IM DOING INSTAED! ONLY WAY SINCE ID BE SHOUTED DOWN AT PROTESTS HAULED OFF IF HAD BULLHORN AND WAS JUST WALKING PAST ETC ETC ALSO HAVING THE DEFAMING CHARACTOR ASSISSNATION MALPRACTICE DIAGNOSIS OF BEING A SCHIZO! STIGMA WHAT A CONVIENT THING FOR THOSE GOSSIP RUMOR MILLING NARCISIST SMEAR CAMPAIGN

  2. The worse part is? We all know this has been the case for years but there was an investment for all of the infrastructure for this and now it is printing too much money for too many people for those with the power to shut it down. They do not care what WE THE PEOPLE want anymore and they have not for decades.

  3. The bad actors and non US companies don't care about US court rulings. That means in a "Grey War" or kinetic "WAR" huge portions of the global population can be surveilled…
Many Africans and other in poorer nations own smart phones.

  4. So what you're saying is if we want protective laws all we have to do is find data on 9 phones that only spend time together in the Supreme Court building and publish it? Awesome!

  5. here is the sad thing, even the stuff you pay for tracks you even if you pay specifically for it not to which is the real stupid part, there was a much better way to handle the case in the 70s than that judge did, just use the calls as probable cause for a warrant to track calls to the person receiving them and then bringing that warrant to the phone line involved with the victim to tell them to track these calls for until the perpetrator is caught

  6. Sounds like the solution is to go after the data brokers, they could be shut down with the stroke of a pen. There is absolutely NO good reason for that category of business to exist.

  7. The problem is I wouldn't care if it was only ever used to solve actual crime.
But its not going to be.
Its going to be used for nefarious purposes that have nothing to do with protecting and maintaining a civil society.
I don't trust them with my data, because they haven't proven to be trustworthy for years.
