40°C Rice Drying: From Rice Boat to Finished Rice

Today, I take you inside Vietnam’s rice industry and show you how paddy is processed at modern rice mills. We start with fresh 5451 rice, which is dried carefully at around 40–45°C to prevent the grains from cracking. After drying, the paddy goes through milling, cleaning, screening, and grading to separate brown rice, white rice, broken rice, bran, and rice husks.

I also show you how large and small rice mills operate and how rice is transported by boats and container trucks for the domestic market and export. This area has changed greatly over the years, with much larger boats now carrying hundreds of tons of rice.

While waiting for the rice to be unloaded, I take a short trip to buy food. Later, heavy rain and strong winds force our boat to stay at the mill before we can safely continue our journey.

Thank you for watching and supporting our life on the rice boat!

  1. In today’s video, I take you to the rice-milling area in Tien Giang, Vietnam, where large rice mills, cargo boats, trucks, and containers are constantly moving rice and other agricultural products.

I’ll show you the journey of 220 tons of fresh 5451 paddy rice—from pumping and drying at around 40–45°C, to milling, cleaning, screening, and sorting. The rice is separated into brown rice, white rice, broken rice, bran, and rice husks, with each by-product having its own value and purpose.

You’ll also see how this area has changed over the years. In the past, small boats carrying only a few dozen tons were considered large. Today, boats carrying 300–400 tons can enter these rice-milling areas.

While waiting for the workers to finish loading the rice, I take a short trip to buy food around the industrial area and visit Bach Hoa Xanh, while also showing you some of the local scenery and daily life around the factories.

Later, heavy rain and strong winds force our boat to stay at the mill until the weather becomes safer. Once the rain eases, my husband and I continue our journey and prepare for the next rice trip.

❤️ Thank you so much for watching and supporting our life on the rice boat! 🌾🚤

  5. vm and English.
green bags here are always cut up. They do seem light-duty. Elsewhere, they are slit at the bottom and reused. The boat owner sometimes decides to give them to the workers. I do not know the expense.

  6. Thank you for the English sub titles it makes it easier to understand what you are trying to say Nagan thank you for this video nice to see the rice factory 🏭 😊 😀 ☺ 🙂 😄 🏭 😊 ❤
