Caran d’Ache finally released the Neocolor II set so many artists had been asking for—and then, rather frustratingly, it disappeared again!
In this video, I’m swatching all 15 anniversary colors and sharing which ones I genuinely love and use. 🎨
I’m also testing raw canvases from Crazy Canvas—including one that may have become my favorite canvas ever! Plus, I’m sharing affordable Manley oil pastels, a gouache update, and a few new earth-inspired colors for my watercolor palette.

Unfortunately, the Neocolor II Botanic set shown in this video—which contained all 15 new anniversary colors—appears to be unavailable again.
Caran d’Ache currently offers two alternative 10-color sets: Landscape and Twilight. However, these sets contain six duplicate colors. Buying both gives you 14 unique anniversary shades rather than all 15—and Light Wine Lees is still missing.
Honestly, this makes Caran d’Ache’s handling of these beautiful new colors frustrating all over again! Please check current availability and the included colors before ordering.

UPDATE: Since filming this video, I can no longer find the 15-piece Neocolor II set on the Caran d’Ache website. 😕 They currently seem to offer only two 10-piece sets containing the new colors—and unfortunately, there are several duplicates between them. I’ll keep checking and update you if the full 15-color set becomes available again. If you happen to find it somewhere, please share the link below! 🎨
Yes, Polychromos and Albrecht Dürer have the same exakt colours and amazing to use together. I hate what caran Dáche did. I live in sweden I cannot even order from them, there are just a selected few countries. 🙁

This is the umpteenth video about it I come across and it is getting so old.
You didn't manage to get the set? Well boo hoo.

I wanted another set and I missed it. That's life, I will live.
And so will anybody else.
You can't always get what you want, it is what it is.
Deal with it and move on, instead of bitching and complaining about it.

So is this new set of neo 2’s still available? Out of stock? Or did they just stop selling them? I am confused….anyone please shed some light…ty❤
Looking at the swatches of the neo IIs it seems that they are all colours (different names, but virtually identical colours) available in the Neoarts. I wonder if after they developed the neoarts they wanted to introduce some of those colours to the neo II range? I don't know, but their marketing around them is total BS. I personally am not a huge fan of the neo IIs – I never use pastels with water and was always yearning for a crayon that was something in between and oil pastel and a crayon, so when Caran D'ache brought out the neoarts I bought the full 48 set without hesitation and I love them.
I am a beginner artist , don’t have much money and am just learning to use different mediums. My husband took me to an art shop in Edmonton Alberta that was having a big sale because they were changing locations. I had read about Caran d’Ache , and although I had never used them, I was curious to try them. I hesitantly asked an older lady also shopping in there if the single set of them that I found buried in a shelf under a bunch of jumbled items was a good set. She stared at them, looking odd for a moment then startled me by grasping my shoulder. ‘yes’ she said , staring into my eyes intensely. ‘ if you purchase nothing else, buy those. They are very VERY good. Where did you find them? ‘ I pointed to the jumble of paints and pencils and she rushed over to paw through them. I thanked her and took my small bundle of 60% off items and went to the till.
Turned out they were only 40% off and the most expensive item in my basket, by far, but the young man at the till said ‘ oh these are wonderful. I thought we sold out of those the first day!’ So I bought them. I hope I do them justice, lol. I have been nervous to try them , they are still in their packaging.

When we are talking abt acrylic gouche is there a brand that doesn't crumble……dang I waited too long to get that pallet. I have seen something simular, I do have an extra Mission one I may try to use instead.

It seems that Caran d’ache don’t really care about their customers, except for wanting their money.
I am buying from other companies.
I have never wanted an art supply company to be dragged so hard. Cd'A is a luxury brand so they are already expensive. I am not an economist nor do I live by the capitalist "it's all fair if the shareholders make an extra 20 cents" credo, but for them to cash gouge with one of their most popular supplies when they do it with nearly everything else (their water brushes … hello!) is gross. Especially in this economy. Also, people who use Neocolor IIs tend to buy replacements or duplicates (I like having colors in different size pieces for drawing) and the idea of just making purchasing the new colors prohibitive makes zero sense to me. Also some of those colors would be very welcome in the full line. I hope they are taking in all the ire and I truly hope they take real accountability.

I really do think the new colors will eventually be sold by Blick. Perhaps they significantly underestimated demand. It takes time to produce more.
I ordered the new set on their website on August 23rd, on September 4th they sent me an email cancelling the order, stating they did not have enough stock to fill it. Two weeks later! So frustrating!
I got the new set on the US site then they sold out so waited a bit for them. I'm treating them kind of precious because they aren't open stock. Thete is a YouTube artist that figured out the blending of current colors that are spot on.
So many companies haven't added colors in decades. It's why I end up with different brands. I love watercolor pencils and have several brands.
I shall just wait until everything is in open stock. They will of course do that…eventually…if they’re not stupid.

It annoys me that people complained when they were in the multiple sets. Then Caran D'Ache listened to their customers and put it all in one set. Then people complained about that.
Can't anyone just be happy? If you could afford the sets that originally came out, then you shouldn't be complaining. I couldn't even afford them.
I was excited when they released the all the new colours in one set. I might have been able to afford them this Christmas. But thanks to people complaining it appears that I won't be able to get these colours at all.
Now if these run out, you have to buy all the sets again. When they put all the new colours into one set, it benefited everybody, including those of you who bought the original sets!
People are just hard to please these days.
The whole botanical set situation makes me realize that I am sick of not being "wealthy" lol. Every time I finally have the money to splurge on what I want – it's sold out. Every freaking time!!! 😅
Honestly I can understand the frustration with Caran D'ache. I wanted to get this set but unfortunately they aren't selling it anymore. I'm wondering if they are doing this to get the hype from the people. It reminds me when Apple iphones came out and all the crazy hypes and the lines of people and hours of line waiting. Then people started realizing that "Apple Co." started coming out with new phones every two years and now people are going crazy anymore.
That said, these colors will come out again next year with another set. So I'm not worried or upset. There is way more things to worry and stress about in my own personal life and in the world. Caran D'ache ain't nobody got time for that nonsense. Lol 🤣

Maybe they saw the videos from people who were so outraged they released this set after saying the new colors would only be available in the anniversary sets, so they decided to pull it. Now people are outraged they pulled it. Seems no matter what they do, people will be outraged 🤷🏽♀
