  1. Awesome comparison video. Really puts things into perspective, coming from seasoned vets. I am so torn between both bikes, I want the Yami more, but I’m 5,8” so it’s gonna be a big bike for me. I’ve sat on the KTM and it’s pretty much perfect I can nearly flatfoot. I just wish we could get the world raid version, I like that 23L tank.

  2. I would own a T7 in a heartbeat if they gave you all of the basics but they have made this such a budget bike that I think they missed the mark. I know it is whiney but not having cruise control on a bike that travels huge distance is a miss. I can do without the rider aids etc. but cruise is a must. If the T7 had cruise I would buy it, upgrade the suspension, add a larger fuel tank, heated grips etc. I would guess that to be around $3-$5k in upgrades to make it right……..doh, wait a minute, doesn't that KTM have all of that stuff…..seems like if you do all of those things to the T7 you are now paying more for your bike than the new KTM 890A-R let alone the790A-R. I am calling bullshit on KTM reliability, I have had 6 KTM's and have never had an issue. Yes, they can have issues because of how race ready and advanced they are and they most certainly are not as reliable as the simple T7 for obvious reasons but their raw performance is worth the risk to me. Yamaha does not push the boundaries of performance and KTM built their company on top level performance. I can tell you that the engines are bulletproof on KTM's unless mistreated and all of mine have been reliable. All of that being said, I bought a Desert X, I added a Tractive suspension, extra fuel tank, heated grips, crash bars etc. In this configuration it is by far and away the best Adv bike on the market and yes, I had to pay a price to achieve that. I also own an 890ADV-R Rally and my DX is better. The moral to the story I guess is you get what you pay for. I would own every single one of these bikes but I would go into it knowing what I am getting and for what cost and be happy. I would not lie to myself because I purchased it and then say its better than something that it is clearly not. Yes, each rider will have their preference but the KTM is a better bike on every level it just may not be the bike everyone chooses for whatever reason. Just like the reviewer said, he just likes riding the T7 better and that is his choice but no way can he say the T7 is better than the KTM, it's just what he prefers. Looking forward to the list of upgrades that he is about to do to his T7…….only a matter of time because that bike ain't ready for primetime in so many situations. Once you bottom that suspension and lose it ask yourself when you get your cast off if having a top level suspension is worth that extra cash. Yamaha open your freakin eyes and bring the big dogs to the states like the World Raid, add cruise and make this thing a contender……it could certainly be amazing and I would pay the premium but as of now no Yamaha for me.

  3. why don't they make a brand new 950 super enduro. cons: no comparison video could be made. a two cylinder 600 cc version would be perfect. I don't understand why they don't produce any more

  4. It’s a small point you mention but I personally think this is crucial. I’ve ridden road bikes for 45 years and just starting to get interested in Adventure bike riding. I’m discovering ‘off road’ riding is so completely different from ‘on road’ riding, your using your body in a whole new way to control the bike over different surfaces. To gain the skills and experience to become better at ‘off road’ riding you need a bike that requires the rider to develop ‘instinctual’ input behaviours and reactions. It would be preferable to buy the bike which does not have 000’s of ‘Modes’ and gadgets that do it all for you……..I’de buy the Yamaha T700.

  5. terene with electronics would be the ultimate bike… not just the ultimate adventure bike, ultimate bike
which brings us to the aprilia tuareg 660… only issue is that aprilia is not yamaha in terms of reliability
but if yamaha makes a terene with electronics… it would be a super sales

  6. I never understood the 'do you Need that much power'. NO, you don't Neeeeed it. But with that thinking everyone should just own a Himalayan. More power is FUN!!!! and if you don't want to use you do not have to but when you want to it is there. BRAAAAAP! – BRAAAAAAP!

  7. Great Job. I have a Tenere 700 on order and it will be the 2022 model year. $12,300 out the door including our lovely 8.9% sales tax here in Washington State. I just found a 2021 890 Adventure R with RallyPack, Quickshift and Cruise control for with 5600 miles for 15,250 including said sales tax. I can pick the KTM up next week or wait who knows how long for the T7. Struggling with this decision.

  8. If anybody wonders why KTMs are typically unreliable especially with poor quality gas, welp, it’s because they have sacrificed reliability to make more power. If the Tenere had over a full point more compression and was tuned to the absolute limit in fueling and ignition timing as are most KTMs, they would both suffer the same fate….overheating, blown head gaskets, melted/cracked pistons from detonation….etc…Yamaha made a perfect engine for pump gas, that will last 100,000 miles…KTM made the same engine with 110 more cc but race tuned and can barely make it on pump gas, and it’s anybody’s guess when the head gaskets will pop….1000 miles? Ten thousand? Along with their other major issues…but different strokes!

  9. Thanks, this really helped me make my choice. Here in the Philippines reliability is key. I’ve had amazing bikes but have had to have down time to maintain them. The T700 is the choice for me. It also helps that it looks amazing.
