Poor guy… Probably hard for people to understand but this is the same as leaving your gas cap off after you fuel your car up at the gas station. He might have been over worked, tired, drama at home, anything really, and just forgot to put the damn trailer down.
How did nobody beep their horn, try to flag him down, etc? that's beyond me, I would have. Either way, his driving career is over.

I seen this and passed by, funny thing a few hours later a convoy of truckers, same dump truck like this was going down School St with their hazards and strobe lights flashing like some trucking protest is going on and is coordinated with the event

The state should fine the company big and take all their CDL licenses and put that driver in jail for reckless driving.
He didn"t know it was up??? What he doesn"t look in his mirrors??? Have seen truck drivers speeding, Driving reckless and tailgating. Will be turning these dangerous drivers in.
That driver shouldn't be driving if you can't tell their trailer is up. It's very fortunate nobody was hurt.

Thankfully, the driver or anyone else was hurt. I had flashbacks to 2006 when a military truck transporting an excavator hit the Aiea pedestrian bridge. The entire bridge had to be taken down because of structual damage. As a result the H1 west bound was shut down for 12 hours. We left the office in Kalihi at 630pm, thought we'd take the back way through Kaneohe, North Shore, etc to get home to Mililani. LOL yeah right. Everyone had the same idea. We didn't get home until midnight. We should've just slept in the office. Still traumatized by that ordeal.
a. People left and right should honk at him to signal him to pull over, and call 911 to report highway hazard.
b. Truck like this should have built-in loud AI voice alert when truck bed is up high at traffic speed: "Idiot, pull over ! Idiot, pull over !"
c. Trucker to perform sobriety test
d. Trucker's reason: His brakes failed and he used the truck bed as reverse thrust.

what an idiot . he should have seen the bed was up . how could he see in the rear view mirror . he should be fined plus take his license away and give him a ticket plus make him pay for all damages .

The hydraulic system could’ve given out without any indication and it just happens. It’s not like it’s intentional. The DOT is always around checking trucks.
