Some people actually do this and it's super passive-aggressive. It might seem mean to be honest and say you don't like a dish your spouse cooks, but it's a LOT worse to say it after several years of them making it. Or if they do something that you and others find annoying, it's okay to tell them so they stop doing it.

We are absolutely appalled by the way Brigham Young University has allowed our small charity to be treated.
Multiple copyright claims have been filed against content we shared that clearly credited Studio C. Our videos reached tens of millions of people, and through those views, countless viewers discovered the work we do serving the unsheltered, hungry, and vulnerable in our community. We receive no government funding and operate almost entirely through volunteers and donations.
For a university that speaks about service and the humanities, this has been incredibly disappointing.
Rather than contacting us to discuss the content, copyright takedowns were submitted. Since then, it appears that Luke Beckstrand has continued searching our social media for additional Studio C content to report.
The video at issue had already been substantially edited before we shared it, and we credited Studio C both in the video information and in the comments. Our intent was never to claim ownership—it was to share content that resonated with people while bringing attention to the charitable work our organization performs every week.
Instead of this becoming an opportunity to collaborate with a charity feeding the homeless, it became a campaign of copyright enforcement that has damaged our ability to reach supporters and raise awareness for our mission.
We believe Brigham Young University should be proud that content associated with Studio C reached more than 20 million views and inspired people to learn about community service through a nonprofit helping those in need. Instead, the result has been repeated copyright actions against a small charity.
We hope Brigham Young University reviews this matter carefully and considers whether this reflects the values of service, compassion, and community that the university strives to represent.
