As Valheim’s 1.0 launch approaches, we look back at what was and towards the future at what will be. Thank you for embarking on this magical journey with us – a journey that’s yours, as much as ours.
Valheim is available for purchase on the Steam, Microsoft/Xbox, Humble and Mac App stores. From the 1.0 launch on 9/9-26, it will also be available for PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2.
Valheim is made by developer Iron Gate, published by Coffee Stain Publishing.

This game is life man I love it ❤💯✌️
When me and 2 friends played Valheim back in 2021 we set out to try and find the Deep North. We spent the whole night heading the same direction with only iron gear, hours spent fighting fulings and sea serpents, dying and setting up portals to link back up. Even though all we found were icebergs, the journey to the north was a real adventure and one of the best multiplayer experiences I've had in a game.
Everything you all have done has been amazing. Don't ever doubt yourselves, and don't ever narrow your vision. And continue to have fun doing what you love. You can always tell when the Devs are genuinely having fun making a game. You all definitely are.
I'm so happy for the entire Iron Gate team. You deserve every allocade.
Just wanted to say thank you all for bringing it to switch 2. And thank you for creating one of the best games in gaming history.
Thank you for creating such a great game… been enjoying it immensely, over 1200 hours played so far.
Thank you Valheim! My husband, cousin, and I have been playing on the same server for years, watching each new biome get released, building and growing, learning, winning, and dying (lots of dying!). We have always been so proud for bruilding what we have from scratch in survival. We are starting a fresh world for 1.0 since SO MUCH has been added! I can't wait to see what it looks like in five years too.
Congrats to Iron Gate team!
You beat the early access stereotype by releasing 1.0! You also maintained high quality the whole way.
Having a great time with 1.0. Thanks guys!
Mille merci !!!!
Спасибо за игру !!!!
I love that game, I made a lot of story of my life in Valheim… so thank you for about that. We love you guys.

Heading out to play this game 4 days straight all day with a friend, next week.

( . Y . )OUR JOURNEY
I haven't even watched the cinematics yet and I'm crying. Truly a 10/10 masterpiece!
Valheim came into my life at such an off time for me and my family. We had just removed a really great friend from our group, someone we established a routine in gaming with, a familiarity with, there was a lot of hurt there in the end, and it was kind of- a slow pull. Getting back into wanting to game. I was depressed and was having some health issues, and one Friday my sister bought it for my brother and I and begged us to try it. It was a game that was on sale, she liked it, so I begrudgingly tried it, as I really also hated survival craft games.
But after a few sessions, man. I was in love.
We got Valheim right after the Ashlands release and we played it 2 times through in a year.
Last year I was having the worst medical issues of my life. I had a migraine for 5 months followed by heart problems and a GI bleed. The migraine disabled me periodically throughout the day. Ever since the migraine I notice I have black spots in my memory from last year. What I can recall so clearly was playing through our second Valheim save when I felt okay. Valheim was my motivation to get up and be a human for a while. To get out of the tomb that became my bed while I was sick.
I am so grateful for this game.
I am so excited to see what it has in store for us. Thank you Valheim.
I can't believe, after all this time, we get 1.0. It literally seems like yesterday when I first downloaded the game. And to see it come all this way.
Thank you, Iron Gate. Thank you so much for creating this masterpiece. I am so happy to see this game flourish as well as it has.
Edit: I now regret, because of my own social anxieties, not submitting something for this video. Much like many there, this game helped me through some … dark times. It's such an integral part of my life, and I am forever grateful for its existence.
Now … let's talk about making an animated cartoon show, because those animations you've been plugging out so far have been outstanding 😀
I reqly realy enjoy of this amazing Game , you guys realy make a memory !thank ypu vety much
I played Valhiem with my dad every single day after he first showed me it, so many memories. Thank you Iron gate.
Just a shame that with this succès no physical copy was released
My name is Robin Eyre, the internets busiest art director nerd – wow this guy is a 1:1 of fantano
Time to play Valheim. I see how it has shaped friends and family. Everyone I talk to that has played has enjoyed it and now it is my turn. I will play it this weekend and try not to be ganged up on by a herd of deer.
best place to hang out in… love this game. one creator said it best, "This world just breathes and you breath with it". Cultists are still assholes though 😝
ty guys for this awesome game!!! Tho screw the deathsquitos
Wtf. They forgot to say at the end "Ask your doctor if Valheim could be right for you."
Nerf gjall. What do you mean by making this asshole so strong, and not making something valuable drop from it ? You struggle to defeat gjall every time and you get absolutely nothing. In my opinion that’s pointless
Valheim is like no game I've ever played. I'll never forget my first night playing, when basically my entire family from all over the US was grinding until the early morning hours. We were hooked from the first death to a tree. Drowning. Greydwarf. Oops-forgot to eat and now I have to travel 2 hours by boat to get my kit back (wait-there are portals, you say?)
Every discovery felt unique, tying you into the game more and more. So many miniscule details and mechanics built into an aestheticallly beautiful game that all have a roll in how the next run will play out.
I'll never forget discovering the plains for the first time, mobbing 10 deep with my brothers, sisters, cousins, mother, and aunt all supporting one-another and having the time of our lives.
And then comes the building. An artistic itch appeared I didn't even know existed. Having something in your imagination, and bringing it into life in this expanse digital world was more satisfying than I could have imagined. I've spent days of my life farming for just the right resource for a build, and months tweaking and tuning the build down to the smallest detail, to the point that my estate within the game started to feel more like home than my actual home.
Best $15 I've ever spent. Best early access game I've ever supported, built by the best team in the industry.
Thanks Iron Gate for bringing my family closer together and sharing this wonderful piece of your imaginations with the world. Can't wait to see what comes next.
Beautiful video! Thank you for sharing stories from the community, and thank you for the game!
the thing is this game is $20 the best money ive ever spent, thank you iron gate
Woo! Congrats!
I cannot wait to get off work
1200 hours played, it's the only game that captures my 2004 WoW brain with how deeply invested I got into the world……of Viking Craft. We're launching a private server today with 13 of our friends 😀
So hyped to get started on Ps5 ❤
Valheim was our outside ticket during the lockdown. The feeling of really exploring made this game great
Nooooo 😢 i was so hyped for the ps5 Release. Played it earlier on xbox. one of the best games ive ever played and infinitely more fun if you play with other people for the first time.
every new biome feels like a challenge and will scare you.
Great release and then you dropped the ball afterwards. You made way more money than you expected and abandoned players. Embarrassing.
Valheim is an INCREDIBLE game. Cant wait to use an excuse to leave work early today when it releases 😂
I’m so excited to put another 200 hours into this after years off. ❤
After following the development of your game for years, I’m now excited to finally be able to play v1.0 and experience the result of all your hard work. As a game developer myself, I know how much work you’ve put into this, and I’m incredibly happy for you that this day has finally arrived. You can be very proud of what you’ve created—because very few people manage to do that. Thank you so much for creating Valheim. Warm regards and best wishes from Germany, Mario.
Misty-eyed while watching this. Less than 1 hour until launch!!!
Thanks for this game you guys. One of the best games I've ever played (gaming PC since 1993) and basically ruined all other games for me.
