O Ri Sakhi | Aabha Hanjura feat Khan Brothers | Bhumbro to Bannaro

O Ri Sakhi was born out my the love of our folk traditions and festive wedding music, what started as wedding song written from the bride’s perspective soon turned into a conversation between two rich folk cultures of Kashmir & Rajasthan. Bhumbro is the crown jewel of Kashmir’s chakri folk tradition, and after performing it at hundreds of concerts over the years, I always knew I wanted to carry its story forward in my own way as a tribute to my Kashmiri roots.That journey took me to Rajasthan, where Bhumbro found a festive companion in the voices of the Manganiyars singing Bannaro ! Blending the sound of the mountains with the sound of the desert has been one of the most fulfilling journeys I’ve taken as an artist. I hope O Ri Sakhi finds a place in your life and stays with you through many beautiful moments 🙂 O Ri Sakhi marks the beginning of a new arts project called Bridges where more cross cultural collaborations will unfold ,and excited about where the next story takes me.
