My Kia Ceed has over 300,000 km on the clock… and the engine was finally starting to give up.
It all started with a check engine light. After running diagnostics, the problem turned out to be the EGR valve. But after checking the engine more closely, I discovered something much worse — poor compression and a lot of kilometers behind it.
So I decided to replace the entire engine.
I found a used engine with around 100,000 km and decided to give my Kia a new chance. During the swap, I also replaced the timing components and changed all the oil and fluids.
But after hours of work, there was one moment we were all waiting for…
I turned the key — and the new engine WOULD NOT START.
And when it finally did start… it didn’t exactly sound healthy.
Watch until the end to see what happened and whether the Kia finally made it back onto the road!

Nice video and you are such a pleasure to watch. I like the part where you remove the good A/C compressor and re-attach the transmission, very expressive. Sometimes I use start spray for engines that need some coaxing. Glad the engine worked out for you. ❤ 😎
17:19 You could have replaced the oil seal here. It's a cheap replacement that saves a lot of headaches later, given the age of the engine.
dont reuse that bolts please, you know why 22:08
bumper off to access the engine ???
I love your work, and I'm a car mechanic, but why only Korean cars?
Wasn't this the car you worked on before? It had a blue gelatin coating on it.
The dance at the end was the best
Nice work again. And I think you got tanned in the summer. 🌤
And the winner of the best dressed engine mechanic goes to … Blonde Mary
Pozdrawiam!
Hi, how are you? I've been watching your videos for a long time and I was wondering if you would be willing to accept a helper in your workshop. I do a little bit of everything, I wash clothes, I know how to mop, I don't know anything about mechanics but I can learn. Greetings from Mexico, in love with your beautiful blue eyes.😊❤
Cameraman on point with a few of those angles. Great work
