On the bench today is a 1:62 scale Matchbox SuperKings Ford LTS Tractor K-115. Produced from 1974-1984 it was originally part of an articulated gas tanker assembly. I got this in an ebay haul of SuperKings castings and parts. I use this as the very basic core of a post apocalyptic urban assault vehicle.

FYI: All of the Maple Leaf Customs finished projects that are kid-friendly are put in custom blister packs and go to my local Goodwill store where they are given to children for free. If there are parts that can be swallowed, those cars are given as gifts to adult collectors that are fellow enthusiasts.

Note: Due to the use of paint stripping chemicals and power tools, this channel is not intended for viewing by children. Age 14+ is recommended.

  1. Hello Andrew, sending warm greetings to Switzerland. I apologize in advance for having to play the spoilsport again, though I do so with full respect for the creativity you’ve shown in this build.

The vehicle has a few significant flaws. For starters, it has no engine! How does it move? The large opening created by the lift simply doesn't look good.

On top of that, the cabin is completely unprotected; in an urban combat zone, the crew inside would be dead within minutes. The space between the front and rear axles is also exposed, making it an easy target for small, mobile bomb drones.

And the gun turret is simply too small for three cannons… there is no way they—along with their mounts, drive mechanisms, and ammunition feed systems—would fit in there… A rotating turret with twin guns, like those found on many Allied bombers during World War II, would be far more suitable…

  2. So cool Andrew. I love it when you do the post-apocalyptic builds. The guns look so cool. You really knocked this one out of the park. I need to learn how to use my 3d printer. Excellent video Andrew!

  4. An excellent and fanciful build, Andrew. I wouldn't like to be on the wrong side of either that ………or the imagination that came up with it!

  5. Looks great. I've used a couple of modern Matchbox Working Rigs as bases for some Gaslands trucks that are similarly built up. I'm glad you said that you don't strip them for post-apocalyptic builds; it makes me feel better because I haven't been.
