Northernlion Rants About Why Its Not Gen Z’s Fault

Guy Hu is half French, half Chinese. Is this anything?

Northernlion goes full philosopher mode and defends Gen Z’s erroneous DoorDash habit, and explains why thinking about one’s own mortality should run in the back of your cranium 24/7. He also talks about why doing the dishes is a coming-of-age metamorphosis.

Context Cards pop up occasionally to explain words, references, or places that might not be clear if English isn’t your first language or if you just didn’t get the reference. Captions are also available for those who need or prefer them.

  1. It's crazy watching NL as someone who doesn't know almost any of his film or pop culture references. Like he's screaming in rage about some thing I've never even heard of.

  2. watching this after accidentally ordering pickup instead of delivery and dont have a car and its a 40 minute walk so now im just gonna take a 7 hour nap at 1pm

  3. "The one that made the most sense"

So true, it got somehow implanted in my brain. What broke it completely is Kafka Metamorphosis.

Its just a giant cockroach. No expenation, no reason, no twist… It's just weird. And i picked up the dementia themes, but damn, the premise was so…. Good.

  4. The rant about blaming everything on the individual was something ive been trying to articulate forever everythings bad and its always your fault ok great thanks so insightful

  5. 8:38 it's not that we don't care or are too cool to worry about death and the void we'll leave behind when we die, we just can't do anything about it so we focus on doing the things we want to do and do our best to be happy

  6. Nah, 12:00, I'm not against doing the dishes, I'm scared of doing the dishes.
I get that's prissy stuff, but I don't particularly deal with massive contrasts of temperature well, the point between lukewarm water and actually scalding water for me is no more than like… 10°C.
Outside of that, like, to properly wash a knife is like… knives are sharp, and it's always grabbing me by the nerves of "I twitch here and I might just lose a finger or something" like, that just sits there in my head, and I hate that.
Beyond that, washing glassware, you gotta be real careful with that kinda thing, 'cause you do that wrong and *pop*, thermal shock just explodes the cup in your hand.

Also, do love the lil context bubbles, please keep doing those, more people really should be using things like that
