One hundred twenty-four light-years from Earth, a planet orbits a dim red star in Leo, and something in its atmosphere is defying explanation. The James Webb Space Telescope has detected dimethyl sulfide – a molecule produced on Earth exclusively by living organisms – at concentrations ten thousand times stronger than anything in our own skies. The confidence level stands at ninety-nine point seven percent, leaving only a three-in-one-thousand chance this is noise, and suddenly the question of whether we are alone feels less like philosophy and more like pending confirmation.
In this groundbreaking space documentary, we explore K2-18 b – and what it means when the universe starts answering back.
In this documentary, we go deep:
* The 99.7% detection confidence and why scientists are calling this the strongest biosignature ever recorded
* K2-18 b’s position 124 light-years away in the constellation Leo, orbiting within its red dwarf’s habitable zone
* Dimethyl sulfide concentrations 10,000 times greater than Earth’s atmospheric levels
* The debate between ocean world and lava planet – and why the answer changes everything
* How JWST’s infrared instruments pierced an alien atmosphere to find molecules only life should make
We have spent centuries staring into the dark, asking if anyone is out there.
The dark may finally be staring back.

Lucky it's close.
Expanding universe, never get there even at the speed of light
Why is it always may have ya dont know so why make a video
5pm Australia 🇦🇺
I think it's a quirk .
So populated by about 4 foot life?
let em know how far away 124 light years is !!!! even if lucky to reach 15% of the speed of light. it's still never reachable.
Yeah, there is no life on this planet
Blah blah blah, everytime we spend another 100 billion dollars on a new telescope all we ever get is"MAYBE" Whatever..
One's parents may bear similarities with an unrelated very rich person in a far off land, you don't call that ultra rich person a super parent. Likewise, there are trillions of galaxies in the Universe, the chances of finding such super Earths are simply overwhelming among quintillion or sextillion planets in the Universe. Our technology has enabled us discover Earth like or super Earth like planets hundreds of light years away. So what? We may discover thousands more of such Super Earths, some even much closer to our Solar system and many may be floating around well beyond our imagination, say, millions or even billions of light years away. At such distances, even studying such bodies is barely possible with our present day instruments. Even if a Super Earth exists with ten times more favorable factors for life as we know of it, the space-time paradigm makes it impossible to collect all the information we need. Remember, the information we currently receive is from a very distant past, not the actual reflection of the present even if it is merely 125 light years away. Majority of our people are also incapable of wrapping around interstellar distances in their minds. And even more bigger majority of our so-called literate population do not know how many known and unknown factors contribute to life on Earth and that includes highly specialized planetary scientists and biologists. Nobody has declared that the Astrophysicists and Cosmologists are the ultimate authorities of matters concerning human knowledge and intelligence. Such space stories may be interesting for some, at best it only reflects human hubris based on futile human scientific endeavors. Studying matters concerning the sustainability of life on Earth and its immediate space environment that may impact our lives may help us stave off extinction events that has happened many times in the past.
Very cool how do we get there yeaa not
Nothing matters if you can't get to it
Hard to believe that our earth only has intelligent life in such a large UNIVERSE.
No life yet found any where beyond our earth.
Lea ok, I assume that's a northern hemisphere target?
The cosmic web looks almost unreal.
Every week some channel says this about some random planet
Interrsted, but not in political commercials. Im out
Borring , to wordy, "longer, than…:… just get to the point of the title.
If aliens are coming to earth or are already here where have they come from
🤣🤣🤣🤡😜
124 light-years away is close enough to feel like a neighbor in cosmic terms, and still far enough that we may never know what’s actually happening there 😅
Can you please do a QA check of the narration before you actually post videos? When it's as bad as this, it is unlistenable, regardless of how good the script might actually be
You ever notice they never look at the constellations mentioned in the many historical texts from places like Egypt, africa, Australia and Peru? 🤔
You'd have thought those would've been the first searched 🤷♂️!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Can’t we just fly a shuttle up there and check it out?
