R Veeramani POCSO Case: All-Women SIT Formed | Police Probe Under Scrutiny | Brass Tacks

The R Veeramani POCSO case has entered a fresh phase after Tamil Nadu Police constituted a four-member, all-women Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the allegations and examine the handling of the earlier probe.

The SIT, headed by Additional Commissioner of Police P.C. Thenmozhi, includes three other senior women police officers. Its formation came after scrutiny of the earlier investigation and action against police officers who handled the case.

Veeramani and associates Shanthi and Mahendra Simhan were arrested in connection with the case. A Special POCSO Court had earlier rejected the police’s closure report and ordered further investigation. Police are now examining evidence, the role of associates and the circumstances surrounding the earlier investigation.

The case has also triggered a political dispute, with allegations of political shielding being raised and disputed. The Madras High Court is set to hear a plea seeking a CBI probe into the case.

  1. SIT with 4 junior IPS Years worked under the most corrupt criminal IPS Arun can not investigate this Bas…rd. Vijay should arrest Arun and nominate senior IPS officers or transfer the case to CBI. Arun and Yasmin should be arrested immediately

  3. Even the police department under CM Vijay’s government requested the court to close the case. However, the judge refused the plea and ordered further investigation, which eventually led to the arrest of the main accused along with two other co-accused.

Why did the police department, which is under the control of the CM, want to close the case?

It seems the CM is playing a double game.

There is no doubt that former CM Stalin also needs to answer for failing to arrest the accused during his tenure.

  4. Absolutely correct… This's the issue… Who protected him.. Who covered it up… Both DMK & ADMK… That this was happening for 4 decades is a ploy of police & DMK.. Just to make every one believe that oh! It's all old.. Nothing new.. Every one knew… He'll take care of police & manage..

  5. Indian judicial is one of the worst in the world.Onw of many examples is the bullshit dmk done everything wro g to peoe. How in earth they earned so much money and wealth. Can supreme court or any judges explain to people There I s no hope in i dian judicial.Only god can help

  6. Law and order is a state subject. Persons holding top positions should be bold and sensitive in such matters. The competency of the system, especially those holding high positions stands exposed when they remain insensitive and fail to act. It is utterly a shame that such things happened in Tamil Nadu, which is known for the rational movement and women development. The model of governance which the earlier ruling dispensation repeatedly highlighted fell flat now.

  7. Word has it that a major hospital (with the name of a Greek god) was an enabler of this crime perpetrated by the politically-connected pedophile. The people of Chennai should be reddy for breaking news.

  8. Corruption has seeped into the DNA of the Indian Ruling elite along with the ecosystem of bureaucrats from Chief Secretary/Commissioner right down to the chaprasi/constable. Corruption has overwhelmed the Judiciary into complicity. The justice delivery system is completely dysfunctional.
Modiji/Himmlerbhai/Bhagwat &c have made no attempt to stem the rot.They. have, in fact, converted governance into a 'laundry' and have traded 'justice/crime' into a political modus vivendi.

  9. Well, if it was in Iran by now he would have been executed without trial.

Ultimately at the age of 84, what will be the maximum sentence for this elite?

Lawyers brain will be fuming on how to get him out in bail beside this being a sensational case.
