Trucks on this kind of road may only do 80 km/h, but when one passes another, it can be just one kilometre an hour faster. Why bother? Most days a truck driver may drive nine hours, and a tachograph records every minute. One km/h faster for nine hours of driving is nine extra kilometres, almost seven minutes. Annoying for you, seven minutes for the truck driver.

Should trucks be allowed to overtake each other like this on the highway?
130 km/h is almost impossible in the Philippines even on expressways
illegal in germany
So boring. In Brazil truckers will do 130km/h and run out of brakes XD
EUROPE TRUCK drivers can only drive 9 hours a day?
That’s seven minutes shorter that you’re waiting for your delivery
It's called in Germany Elefantenrennen.
Even when signs forbid to overtake, they still do it.
Police should discard their driving licenses.
The one it overtakes should brake to help him.
Wow interesting
7 minutes for the truck driver, a lifetime for a BMW driver following too close in the outside lane
You'd be amazed how many problems could be solved if the driver getting passed would take the f***ing hint, and slow down for 5 seconds. Most trucks are restricted to a certain speed limit. Most drivers are also paid by the mile, NOT by the hour. If every driver owned their rig, they wouldn't be doing this, and the highway would be twice as terrifying. Not everybody wants to spend half their day behind a guy that's doing less than your most.
Just 1 truck drivers limiter is 1 km/h higher
Respect to the truckers who are not dangerous and don't make others brake hard. Also respect to those who will wait 5 seconds until I'm passed to make a move. Literally had it once where I was the only car coming and the truck couldn't wait 5 seconds before making a literal 3 minute overtake. What the fck
And the reason one truck can go faster than another is usually because one has newer tyres
The slower truck should let the faster pass as to not hold up traffic
Its in the CPC
I should know i drive HGV
It annoys me that my colleagues ignore this
Seven minutes can be the difference between making it to a safe spot with food and having to sleep on the side of the highway where someone would be more than happy to rob you 😂
This why most motorways or highways have 3 or more lanes trucks are banned from the last overtaking lane to prevent this very thing
Then drive like 85 or 90 and you drive more distance
Real truckers in Europe do 90km/h😎
And here I am in the US having trucks pass me doing 75 MPH (120 Km/h)
Don't forget that some of them are actually slower because of the load (heavy or fragile).
A few years ago we sent a lorry 2500km with under a tonne load, some brand new Ford dashboards, most likely that guy was flying on the road.
I always have respect for lorry drivers, they keep the world running and yes, those 7 minutes can make a huge difference for a lorry when they need to find a place to park, (preferably a safe place).
We all shouldn't forget they are doing there job. Ots not easy as trucker. Parking is always full, bed almost never level, constant traffic passing by. Truckers get a lot of 💩. Everyone should try a shower at a truck stop. Cold water only or completely broken, showers looks nasty.
Jesus Christ, it is annoying but not a serious problem. Grow up.
Oh hey um I remember experiencing the same thing except the overtake was at 120km/h and we slowed down from 150km/h
Btw the speed limit is 100 km/h
man your a shit driver if you think a truck making a legal lane change is cutting in front of you. You could count to 5 slow before you would have hit him
There should be a general no overtaking zone for all trucks on all two lane motorways
As a truck driver. This has almost nothing to do with it..
Overtake using the emergency lane. We pay enough taxes as is, so every bit of that road should get used too
And suddenly kerosene starts playing
I’m getting my early stamp
Truck driver can wait 1 more minute.
but they got 1 km faster only for like 5 minutes…
Also a lot of trucks are governed to a certain speed, so even if they wanted to go faster to pass, their truck may not let them.
It is dangerous af. This happened to me once and I became sandwitched between the left lane truck and cars behind me and to the side.
Get revenge by "accidentally" rearending the truck
It's worth noting trucks in Europe are legally electronically limited to 90 km/h, with some truck companies in Germany setting limiters to 85 km/h because of the 80 km/h limit for trucks in Germany. So in this case the driver would have 5-10 km/h to get past the other truck.
i think its good to mention that nowadays, the Trucks literally shut off and stay put when you reached the 8hours of driving.
7 minutes, 7 minutes is all I can spare
ouugh those annoying trucks
81? Damn that fast whenever I’m stuck behind a truck overtaking it’s 80km vs 80.0001km 😅😁
7 minutes for the truck driver but 3 Minutes for 30 people in the 20 cars behind it = 90 minutes
Welcome to driving in the UK..
Yeah 7 min for truck driver and for me breaking from 130 till 80. They barely give a damn about safety and distance. Just instantly switching…..
