Can India Turn Trump’s H-1B and Green Card Restrictions Into an Opportunity? | Vivek Wadhwa | TRS

Is Trump’s immigration crackdown an opportunity for India? As the U.S. tightens restrictions on skilled foreign workers and suspends major technology firms from the PERM green card programme, questions are growing about America’s ability to attract and retain global talent. The affected companies include Microsoft, Adobe, Infosys, TCS, Wipro, HCLTech, Cognizant and Capgemini. The move does not directly cancel existing H-1B visas.

On #TakeThree, Indian-American technology entrepreneur and academic Vivek Wadhwa (@wadhwa) joins the conversation to discuss whether America’s increasingly restrictive immigration policies could redirect talent, investment and opportunities towards India.

Wadhwa highlights India’s remarkable talent pool and argues that the country must recognise its potential, improve opportunities at home and build an environment where young Indians can thrive without having to move abroad.

Can India turn America’s immigration crackdown into a long-term economic advantage? What must India do to retain its brightest minds?

  3. Chinese students mostly go back to China. It is because China infra is much better than US.
India needs to improve infrastructure . Stop managing headlines to get votes only. Do real improvements and people would love to live there and work for the country willingly and happily.

  4. Interesting talk….
China won because USA closed their basic industries and outsourced all that work to them.
The basic ' Made in America ' items became ' Made in China '
Now by alienating the world, India will win if they continue to harp on this and push their companies to move to India.

  5. BS! Indians have found nothing except Fraud and Gaming the system. The worst workers ever. Zero creativity! May be 1 in 100 is good in my experience working with them. Rest of them mediocre engineers who copy, and corrupt the High Tech Industry. USA was great before the arrival of H1-B in bus loads in the early 2000s and brought the whole USA economy and High Tech down. And now we have lost to China because of that. Please go home to India. LMAO!!!!

  6. There is one aspect you're overlooking. Once the talent returns to India, the need to succeed is no longer there. The challenges of housing, transport, etc. are no longer there. You can stay with your parents, at their expense, as long as you wish. Complacency set in.

  7. China build product and give jobs for their citizens, Whereas INDIA build Cast/corruption and Impose HINDI and fight with USA for jobs for their Citizens.Only few Hindi speaking Community becoming RICH.
