  1. I disagree with the "networking" part. It is true that non-trades colleges have sororities and fraternities. However, networking is as simple as encouraging students to work in a team environment in some capacity and solve some MEP (Mechanical Electrical Plumbing) etc. problems together. From what I've seen, most trade schools do this naturally. It's also human nature to connect with other people. All students need is an environment that encourages some socialization conducive to forming lasting relationships with their peers.

  2. Big industry is losing right now because they don't have enough talented tradesmen so there is a massive backlog and they end up paying an ultra premium to get tradesmen in the door. The goal of this is to pay talented tradesmen with 10 years of experience 22- 28 dollars an hour and then praise the market to say LOOK AT ALL THESE JOBS.

  3. Worked in the trades for a decade then switched to a desk job. Trades are necessary but your body will pay for it in the long run. Every old guy i met in the trades had injuries from labor and illnesses from exposures to chemicals. I wouldnt recommend it unless you didnt have a choice.

  4. You don't need an overpriced college degree to start a business, create a new technology, etc. Spending four years to go into six figure debt so you can work 9 to 5 in a cube farm for people who don't care may not be worth it.

  5. When colleges are 1. Openly hostile to male students. 2. No longer educate, but instead indoctrinate, and 3. Indoctrinate via political and world views that are antithetical to about half the students there. 4. Keep increasing costs because hey, college is about revenue generation for the college, debt is for the student. Yeah, I'd walk away too.

  6. Trade job don't make money you start out at 28,000 year. But you will have go trade school for 4 years. And pay 100,000 dollars for school then after that you have try find trade jobs. Then after that you have do other 4 years of school while you work on jobs and pay other 100,000. After that the company will hire you for a trade job and start you out at 36,000. You will be in debt 200,000 for school and only make 36,000 year. It's better to go college and learn build AI engineer and software development for AI. Don't listen to what fox news says because you won't make money with trade jobs because if it pay that much all the kids will do it 20 years ago. Also you can start your own business with something else.

  7. The trades are taught in community colleges. It doesn't matter whether it's a red or blue state. Every US student has to take GE requirements if want a degree. Better to complete the fundamental Liberal Arts GE like English 1, Speech 1, Biology 1, Political Science 1, US History 1, Psychology 1, Economics and Statistics as a teenager still in HS taking at a CC or Freshman year college. Then do the trade AS degree.

  8. Electricians wiring eachothers houses doesnt make an economy, you need a full spectrum of careers such that needs are diverse and serviced by many. This trade push is a brief wind in the sails of a sinking ship

  9. Just wait for it soon trade jobs will saturate and wages will flatten and fall

We need both white and blue color work for a functioning society

We do not have a functioning society we have a wealth extraction extortion based criminal run society

    Cantilon effect in full force

  10. Gen Z sees the AI disaster that’s coming. Taking on trade jobs is smart but at what point will we have too many in those positions?
Coding used to the the “next big thing” but why hire new human coders when AI can do it
