  1. You are probably lived your life in sheltered that is you never life in reality check that is why you are saying maomao threatens chou u when in reality she was giving him reality check

  2. If she's not gonna last long, why even have her further spread the diseases? Evrn on a business standpoint, that makes it more dangerous for the other women and limits their clientele

  3. Not a threat at all!! She's teaching him about the evils of their world but from a safe place, like my mom say "It's better for you to learn here now than to be taught by the world, and believe me, the world isn't kind when it comes to teaching."

  4. This isn’t a threat it was a warning from someone who already knows the dark and seedy parts of society, she was kidnapped and sold before so she knows well that younger people aren’t off limits to these folks

  5. Yeah, Maomao went with the most straightforward horror scenario, not even mentioning the predators who absolutely would rob something ELSE of Chou-u's too besides money, before ultimately killing him either way.

Then there's also the slavery option (of all kinds). The "better" option would be the type of work Maomao was forced into, the other more akin to what Verdigris house offers to its clients.

Given Chou-u young age and recent amnesia, it's understandable that Maomao doesn't wanna scare him beyond what's "necessary".

  6. Seeing as Maomao was meant to be a mother in earlier versions, i really adore the dynamic between her and chou-u. While it isn’t entirely motherly, it’s still pretty family or sibling-esque

  7. It’s not a threat? It’s a life lesson? She’s literally just telling him “if you don’t stay where I know you’ll be safe, you will get murdered”? That’s like being a kid and your parent telling you not to go with the man that says he needs help finding his lost puppy-

  8. This is not a threat. It's a warning about safety. If Chou-u wants to what he did, that's fine, but he must do so safely and aware of the risks. It's a reality check. He's living in the pleasure district, so he must avoid rose-tinted glasses.

Let's say they are siblings, considering the dynamic. She's the older sister who's protecting her younger brother from the dangers by showing the consequences to what happens to idiots who act recklessly. The exposure makes Chou-u tread more carefully.

A child (kid context, not offspring context) must obey their elders if they want to live well and long. Or do you want Chou-u to end up like Maomao's mother, who contracted syphilis and is progressively dying?
