A 48-year-old Grand Traverse County man is a millionaire after winning a $6.79 million Lotto 47 jackpot with a ticket purchased at a Kingsley grocery store, according to the Michigan Lottery.
The man, who chose to remain anonymous, matched all six numbers in the Aug. 15 drawing: 04-16-28-30-36-37.
He purchased the winning ticket at Northland Food Center, located at 2377 East M-113 in Kingsley.
“I play Lotto 47 and some of the other draw games regularly because my theory is that you can’t win if you don’t play,” the winner said. “I got on the Michigan Lottery app to check the winning numbers the day after the drawing. When I saw I matched all six and won the $6.79 million jackpot, I wanted to scream! I kept blinking and thinking to myself: ‘This can’t be right.’ It was unreal.”
The winner recently visited Michigan Lottery headquarters to claim his prize.
He chose a one-time lump sum payment of approximately $4.7 million instead of annuity payments totaling the full $6.79 million.
The man plans to use his winnings to buy a house, invest and take a few trips.
According to the Michigan Lottery, the $6.79 million prize is the largest Lotto 47 jackpot won so far in 2026.
Lotto 47 tickets cost $1 per play, with players selecting six numbers from 1 to 47. Jackpots start at $1 million and continue growing until someone wins.
