The countdown is ON! ⏳⛵ With just weeks left before shipping our aluminum sailboat to the Caribbean, we’re racing against time to get everything ready.
This week, we’re tackling some major projects: installing the rudder skegs, stern tube, and bow thruster tunnel. But as always, things don’t go exactly as planned! With the help of an incredible French welder, we’re making huge progress toward getting our boat in the water.
Will we make it in time? Let’s find out! 🔥

👨👩👦 We are Duca and Roberta, a Brazilian couple that during a sabbatical trip in 2016 decided to follow our dreams creating this youtube channel to document our journey.
The final dream was to build a metal boat to be able to travel the world taking our house with us, but we didn’t have money for that. So, we started building a tiny shipping container house with no prior experience in building to gain some skills to build a boat. When we were almost finishing the house we found a boat that was neglected for over 22 years and we spent 2 years refitting her. We sailed for 2 years (exploring the Brazilian coast and part of the Caribbean). Then we sold our boat and we moved to Europe. Right now the dream is happening and we are building a new aluminum 43ft sailboat and a new life with our son Oli.
We hope to inspire others to follow their dreams.
SUBSCRIBE to our channel and join us every SUNDAY for a new episode of our journey!!

Grande Matier 🙌🤩 Coisa linda que foi a Força que ele deu em duas semanas🤝❤️ Isso deu ânimo para que o Duca e a Rô continuassem na corrida contra o tempo🤝 Gratdão Matier🥰
Sportsman better take your precision welder with you for the rest of the build because you understand each other and you work well together. Think 🤔 that things will be very different in the place where you are going to. Lack of materials and therefore not the same standards needed for confidence in the final build and to meet international insurance standards. Hope I am wrong because this is difficult at best. All of the best for you and your family. ❤❤ Well done at your Percy (perseverance 😂😂)
1 John 2:15-17
15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
So exciting. Amazing work 😎😎
Duca I was on the verge of unsubscribing mainly due to you ramblings to try to explain to a toddler what you are doing. Brilliant but long and boring for those of us that are familiar with boats and construction. I clicked on this episode with trepidation and found the best ever episode that Odd Life has ever put out. Small explanations and great coverage of the work being done. This was truly a breath of fresh air. The format is fantastic and the story is compelling enough to keep us interested. I don't mean to criticise but when you go into long detail descriptions of the work being done it is like listing to some body reading the terms of a software agreement. You have a wonderful story to tell and learn from our mutual friend when Chris realises he has gone on to far he admits he is waffling or Jennie tells him. I love the channel and Hope to meet up with you guys some day.
Nice welds in this episode a lot is happening and looking good love it
Don’t forget your zincs inside and outside. Inside on your water low points. You had a steel boat last time. Aluminum is another beast to take care of.
Enhorabuena por los avances y sobre todo me alegro porque ya se te ve la alegría en la cara ya estas empezado a disfrutar de nuevo con el velero me alegro mucho hasta el próximo video, saludos desde Malaga España
Good 👍
Thanks for sharing, love your videos 💓
That welder is amazing. Nice to watch a true professional that just gets on with it.
Fantastic your not blowing fuses while 2 guys are welding. Phew! Amazing progress.
Your welder is very talented!
DAMN that is some thick Aluminium ! That's the thickness of my Tanzer fiberglass hull and the Tanzer is vastly considered to be an overbuilt tank. In alu !? DAMN ! You won't worry about rocks, rocks will worry about your boat !
You and your welder are doing a great job with the boat. Do not worry about not being able to record video everything. You have to be focused on getting the boat ready for the next adventure and the water. Keep up the great work.
Ducca, love the new furniture! Should be a comfortable ride while your sailing the Caribbean.
Great progress! Having a deadline certainly helps to concentrate the mind.
Does Matt back grind those full penetration welds like the skegs, shaft housing and thruster tunnel?
We're good 😮😊.
You guys are so lucky to have Matias "Mathew" as your welder! 👍🏽
His work is star ⭐ level.
Really enjoyed this video with good music & progress. 🌺
Guys, I've been watching you for a while and we had short talks in Makum, some time ago. Wish you all the best. Please, please, please finish skeg with longitudinal flat bar. Flat plate transversally positioned will cause low pressure area that will create huge vortexes in front of the prop. Effect of this will be very poor wake field and low prop efficiency and vibrations due to different load on the prop between upper and lower part of the prop. If you are on METS, I can explain everything with sketch.
Odd life is back in my list of watch immediately videos.. but they need more help.. Become a Patreon. It's the cost of a coffee.. I stopped during Covid, when I lost my job, But I signed up again, No regrets…. Help these guys out!!..

Your welder is awesome! My dream is to buy a brand new Corvette! If I just had 8 people to donate 50K each I could achieve my goal and I would be so so so eternally grateful.
