Why the P90 Carries Its Bullets Sideways?

The FN P90 stores 50 rounds across the gun, on top: a fixed twisted ramp turns each one 90 degrees before it is
chambered, and the empty cases drop out of the bottom – all to fit 50 rounds into a gun about as long as your
shoulders are wide.

  1. The rest of P90 is pretty meh, but the magazine is absolutely brilliant. They engineered a simple solution to a pretty complicated problem, and it worked beautifully. On paper it really does seem like a "That's too easy, it will never function" thing, but the magazine works.
