The doctor's name, Na Dae-il, sounds similar to the Korean expression "naedaenda," which means to be obnoxious or to act like you know it all.
I think the name was probably chosen for that wordplay.

The initals on the Liver did actually happened. In February and August 2013, Dr. Bramhall used an argon beam coagulator (a medical device used to staunch bleeding during surgery) to etch his 1.6-inch initials "SB" onto the transplanted livers of two sedated patients. The markings were found by chance later in 2013 during a follow-up operation by another surgeon when one of the donor organs suffered unrelated complications.
