I thought the MegaMan X continuity was like leagues ahead of MegaMan in terms of power.
the moment i saw the thumbnail, i knew exaaaactly the web comic that it would be about

i read the title, was really confused, thought ZERO was going to show up, saw Classic MegaMan show up, looked back at title, and it all became so clear
MegaMan would absolutely destroy the villains in the X series. MegaMan was ready to delete Wily. I honestly believe he would do what needs to be done and while he's older tech than X… i do not believe potentials are the same. MegaMan has more potential than all the MEGA's and that's because he wasnt design for combat and showed up. All the other MegaMen were built with combat in mind, but not MegaMan, he was just a normal robot that got upgraded, and he was never programmed to fight but he evolved into being a force that beats robots designed to fight like Bass on a daily basis. Had Light left armor upgrades for MegaMan like he did for X, MegaMan would win against anything thrown at him.
Now with Megaman Volnutt
All humor aside this is not lore accurate lol. Yes the original MegaMan was a legend for his time but like, X was designed to be the perfect successor and I think the 1994 animation reflected it nicely when they met. Honestly though probably the only thing they could do to change that is to retcon X. I personally think it would be cooler and better if they did like Megaman Zero where "like Zero" Megaman gets a new body only it's designed to be X. In this way Megaman can be perfectly cohesive just like how Sonic the Hedgehog both classic and modern are both one and the same. In fact Capcom could end the classic MegaMan series with a critical injury or seeming death only to be reborn as X as a special contingency. Could even change it to a new name like MegaMan Omega and have Light be like "I was going to name you X but I think __ suits you better"
Whats funny about all this we did get one Ruby spears episode where X and Megaman teamed up on Vile.
