Why? Was Ice and water more expensive than Alcohol?
My mom used to wipe me down in alcohol in the 60s. At some point in the 90s when I had my kids, I recall being told not to use alcohol to break a fever
One thing i have to stay STOP USING CLEANING PURPOSES PRODUCT LIKE MEDICATIONS that's just incase you dont know chemistry
Yo ave such incredible videos. Thank you so much for opening perles minds. ❤
Humans: we do all the dumb things.
Wow, how could Dr Bernard got so many interesting medical cases. It very educational and interesting, I'm hooked.
Bro just use iced water the heat capacity and then the latent heat of vaporisation would take care of it with no risks
👍🤝😘
My parents would always pee on me to cool me off.
1950's our doctor advised my parents to do this, but more just a rub, not a bath. And outside in the breeze.

You should do a story on the 5 most expensive medications reserved for the ultra rich
. Oh yeah? And what’s gonna happen if I do- OH…
Physics… not anatomy…
Weight cutters use it too.
Smart enough to know alcohol will transfer heat away quicker, dumb enough to realise the body absorbs alcohol.
This once happened to a Homestuck cosplayer according to legend
When I was a toddler, I had the Hong Kong flu. I had to be hospitalized for over 2 weeks. My fever was 105°F. I was placed between rubber sheets and ice was poured on top of the sheets. I was also given a sponge bath with alcohol. It's a miracle that I didn't die
Why wouldn’t you just run water? Like running water
When I was little, decades ago, I remember getting rubbed down in alcohol at the hospital when I had a fever with pneumonia. I remember freezing and shivering.
👍👍👍
I heard bathing and alcohol drops a fever, but I figured it was an old wives tale, I used common sense with my kids 😂
When I was a kid and the air conditioning on the school bus broke in the Florida sun, I used hand sanitizer on my face to cool me down. It worked, probably not good for the skin, but you don’t need to overdo it by soaking your entire body.
I remember my mom rubbing rubbing alcohol on my back when I had a fever. and she is also done it with the menthol alcohol rubbing alcohol
Dr, tell me, were my parents wrong? Not alcohol, but when i was in 6th grade, I had a fever of 104. They put me in an ice bath and gave me motrin. Fever didnt break for like a week. To this day, i blame it for when i get sick and it hits me harder than it should.
Physicist meets biology lol.
Best case scenario you’re going to need a P Diddler amount of baby oil for that dried out skin afterwards, random spark, also comes to mind for reasons not to do this
It seems like some people fully second guess parenting entirely in real time
Rubbing alcohol is what my mom used.
My mom will drizzle some isop alcohol on the basin of water then she will dip a washcloth and wring it. Just enough that the cloth is damp then rub it on our arms and legs to cool down the body whenever we have high fever when we were young..
