Surgical Extraction and Bone Graft

A surgical extraction may be needed to remove a severely broken down tooth. First a gum flap is raised and some bone on the buccal (cheekside) of the tooth is removed. Then the tooth is sectioned into its individual roots and the roots are removed. If you plan on having a dental implant placed, a bone graft is placed in the extraction socket.

  1. The procedure is not painful..just pressure. Please bring earbuds and a sleep mask if you dont wanna hear the tools and tugging LOL..and the healing is a mfkr…they give you Tylenol with Codeine, Motrin for moderate pain and an antibiotic..it should start feeling way better within a week…not too mush rinsing or drinking with a straw and eat soft foods…
