Swimmer Kept Diving Into a SUNKEN Bus 🚌💔

A bus with 92 people inside sank into a lake — and one swimmer kept diving back down into the dark. 🚌
What he brought up one time haunted him for the rest of his life.

True story: On September 16, 1976, a trolleybus with 92 people on board plunged into Yerevan Lake in Armenia. Shavarsh Karapetyan, a 23-year-old finswimming world champion, was training nearby with his brother Kamo. He dove again and again to the trolleybus about 10 metres down, kicked out the rear window and, in near-zero visibility, felt his way to passengers and brought them up to his brother and other helpers at the surface. Twenty of the people he pulled out survived. Once, close to fainting, he surfaced holding a leather seat cushion instead of a person — he later said he had nightmares about it for a long time and believed the mistake cost a life. Sepsis and pneumonia nearly killed him. About a year later he swam one last race with Kamo running beside the pool in case he blacked out, set another world record without realizing it, and retired. Drawn reconstruction: generic characters, no real photos.
