funny, how the gen x band X, were boomers, love it.
Who is the blond woman who appears in several scenes? Just curious. Google is stupid and kept telling me it was Exene.
Shortly after her set with Auntichrist – just outside the backdoor of the Casbah in San Diego – I approached Exene and asked if I could hug her. She was in fine spirits and said "sure!". I told her I loved her, but corrected myself upon seeing all the eyes upon us and said "WE love you!" Thus began an Exene hugfest. She seemed surprised but appreciative.
I dont know that X is a punk band.

Great documentary that I've seen many, many times, but what makes this the "Silver Edition"?
I met them at Houston Cactus Records in '83 or so and they were entirely charming. Still a big fan all these years later.

My friend turned me on to these guys in 81. Got most of their records. Seen them at Summers on the beach, in Ft. Lauderdale 85. We raised so much hell they came back out for a couple of encores. Love em.
The record companies are basically finance institutions and work like banks.
All that great music in 80,s-every new X album was a treat-1st album-Wild gift-etc.
I first saw X in 81-at 9'30 Club in DC-then several more times-twice in 84 they were great-first 4 albums were so perfect
I noticed them from way up here in Alaska during the mid80s with the Wild Thing music video .

My first band was X, years before this lot. Best songs were "Brain Damage" & "Bob the Cat Fucker". Not radio friendly, you never heard of us. By the time I got to LA I was acting, writing, not doing music. Fun while it lasted.
One of my favorite bands off all-time, no one else sounds like them.
Exene was my ultra puberistic crush of female singers. She was my queen of the scene, still is, and always shall be. This was my determination at 13, and I stand by it at 57 baby!!!

Both could have gone totally off the charts.

They broke the mold with Exene. There will never be another like her. She had a weirdness without a hint of pretentiousness. I believe it's a rare quality.

My ex-wife turned me on to X in the mid-90s. In 2002 I was able to get the band I was playing with to get the opening act in Houston. I accidentally punched myself in the mouth with my harmonica during the gig and was good and bloody. John Doe came and put an ice pack on my mouth backstage and gave me a fucking hug! Life fulfilled. Such a great down to earth dude!! I'll always regard him as a friend 😊
