Faceless Men: who is Jaqen H’ghar?

Jaqen H’ghar is probably the most confusing Game of Thrones character. Who is Jaqen? What’s his relationship with Arya? Is Jaqen Syrio Forel? Who’s the “alchemist” at Oldtown, and what does he want? What do the Faceless Men have to do with Valyria? Were the Faceless Men involved in the death of Balon Greyjoy? Could they be working with Euron Greyjoy to orchestrate a huge terrible blood sacrifice?

This video contains spoilers for Season 6 of Game of Thrones, and Books 1-5 of ASOIAF, and a TWOW sample chapter read by GRRM.

  1. Syrio went to the house of black to die. he was in pain . already dieing or sick or something like that years before the start of game of thrones . he drank from the pool of poison. later a call was sent out from kings landing for a sword fighter to train another.. the house of black and white seeing the opportunity used the face of syrio. they might had already had some one that was a master water dancer. its a martial art. upon arriving at kings landing and finding out that Aria was going to be a student thats when Syrio/ h'gar made the choice to train not only her in water dancing but to indoctrinate aria to the many face god. not nesisarly make her no one but something more . to sow the seeds or the many face god to westrose. but she surprised them. and bing bang boom aria the baddie !!

  2. There's no death without life, as there should not be life without death. To be no one is to accept we're all the same in the eyes of death. When we die we see nothing, we are nothing: we become no one

  3. If they are acolytes of the red god (god of light) in a way, then they may know something of what role Arya has in the future battle with the dead. Not sure how that explains how they interact with her, but it certainly could be a reason for them to show interest in her from a young age.

  4. hearing about all this really shows george’s impact on elden ring very reminiscent of destined death, the black knife assassins, volcano manor, and more

  5. What i really thought was weird was when the faceless man drank the poison and died? I mean no wonder they have a recruitment problem since their assassin's offs themselfes I mean what was that? 😂

  6. the birth of the dragons immediately signals an arms race.. of course this is entirely up to what Martin says but I would expect the faceless Men to have a story if not a part in the Doom off valeria. it sounds like they have their own history which is very consistent with secret clubs

  7. "Why did he choose Arya to be an assassin? Well because this is a story written by a guy as a work of fiction and she needs to have something to do" is what I heard

  8. the truth is J.R.R. Martin is a shitty writer who was trying to write a 1000 books at once, leaves thousands of loose ends, comes to no conclusion and loves disappointing the reader.

  9. 6:27 I think it makes more sense if it really is the army recruiter thing. Syrio forel could also be part of the cult and tryingg to plant a seed (, but dying before it sprouts)

And jaquen just so happens to be another faceless man also trying to recruit a potential "soldier"

    Like a secret organisation

  10. I can’t be the first to suggest this, but does anyone else ever wonder if these ppl who pose “theory” ever consider that every question they asks results in the writer having to decide “uhhh.. yeah, that’s good, let’s say they did it because of revenge, and also that spy is a friend of the other guy… yeah… yeah that works… “ you’re devoting your time and problem solving efforts to something that someone has to literally make up as they go you absolute walnut brain.

  11. whoever had problem with understanding him and is confused why he was here and there and why. you missed the point.

this super guy of an assassin is a very intelligent assassin. and even step he did was brilliantly executed.

i was never confused. but what is was confused by is how they can get a different size body like Arya did. but again it is a fantasy show and could be a trick by deception and magic. just don’t put too much weight and thoughts into it and it flows like water. This character was brilliant. The second character I loved is the hound. He is the real hero in this show. He was the reason the stocks was still alive then Brianna was force of nature. she took down the hound man. hahahah she was great. and the hound was super character.

  12. No it Does make full sence, You confuse yourself so badly it all sounds like crap. You are also forgteting about God of Fire, the Stark connection with the Ice god etc etc etc
