Chicago city government couldn't run a 10 cent Kool aid stand. Just typical, not surprising.
I hope this is not a surprise. This was tried in the 1970s and they all failed then too. The only remnant is Whole Foods who started their chain by buying up the failed "Co-ops". The "Co-ops" were independent socialist grocery stores that were run by their customers. They were dirty, poorly stocked, and prices were subsidized by supporters. The advantage of the government run ones is that they will have money as long as taxpayers do not mind paying higher taxes.
Shoppers should just look past the expiration dates, the brown lettuce and green meat. It's cheaper than greedy grocery stores were.
