Actually no, the Find N6 is worse. It's a jaggedy set of crevices and looks awful.

1:05 It's literally "one CD" lighter than a Z Fold8 Ultra.
1:18 At 82mm wide, it absolutely does not "fit perfectly in your palm." When folded, it's 4mm wider than an S26 Ultra or iPhone 17 Pro Max. Unless you have very large hands, the Fold8 is not something you want to use one handed for extended periods of time (or anywhere you need to maintain a good grip on it).
1:45 The inner display is the same width as a Fold8 Ultra in landscape orientation. The physical size of the video is identical.
2:10 Ironic that the "ideal" orientation is effectively the default orientation for the Fold8 Ultra. The experience is exactly the same.
2:30 An even better way to read e-books is with flex mode, so you can hold the Fold in a natural book posture. Too bad the Fold8 ditches that (while the Fold8 Ultra retains it).
2:45 You could say the same thing about the crease going back to the Fold 5. When you actually use it, it's irrelevant.
3:20 The "anti-reflective coating" is a screen protector. Samsung could sell you one for your other Z Folds, but then that'd break their narrative that you can't replace the screen protector without "professional" assistance… It's also still significantly worse than the now "old" Oppo Find N6.
5:05 Only having two cameras would be a non-issue if Samsung would have simply used the Fold7's 200MP sensor on the primary and included a 3x digital crop mode. You can try this on the Fold7 (or 8 Ultra as it has the same sensor) and you'll clearly see the quality and detail of the cropped 200MP shot is superior to the tired 10MP 3x optical that Samsung keeps recycling.
7:30 It's not a "fresh form factor;" Oppo did this with the Find N2 four years ago, except better because it wasn't overly wide and actually met the intended purpose of a "small" device. It's also not a "solid" effort by any stretch. It's full of silly compromises and examples of absolute carelessness (e.g., the fact that the speakers are oriented in mono when unfolded in landscape, and a camera hole punch that's right in the middle of content rather than in a corner). That's before you get to things like the lack of flex mode, lack of S Pen support (when every other competing foldable has active stylus input on both screens, while having at least 20% more battery and being just as thin), and the worst rear camera orientation on the market today (which interferes with rear-mounted accessories and causes it to rock like a teeter totter on a table).
Samsung should be ridiculed for rolling out this rush job, not celebrated.

I just got picked up the Fold 8 and I love it…I can’t put it down! I was a Samsung girl in 2011 and then I became a part of the Apple ecosystem system because everyone in my family had one. It’s a second phone for my business…totally worth it! Now I know why I loved galaxy phones! Great video!

First of all, what's the real cost of that phone? $2,149.00 + Sale Tax: 7.00 = 2,299.43 I have an iPhone it's five years old. Why do I need this? I live on a boat to be precise Nordhavn-63 trawler It's over all length 62' 6" / 19.05M. I got it new. It's winterized. I'm in the north of Europe. I have monitors and screens in my pilot house four of them. No, I have five. I have a TV set there too. It's just folded up. I have a gaming PC in my state room. I have a 75 inch flat panel TV in the salon. Laptop, and a tablet. I need the phone to do what. For the money you're talking I can stay how many days at a marina. How much diesel can I buy? Food Internet access. And I get a slightly bigger screen. To do what with. I'm doing fine with the phone I got. It'll be just my luck that foldable phone will fall in the ocean.
If you want the most pro level shots you should probably step up to a digital camera.
I received my Z Fold 8 1TB today, and I have my Z Fold 6 1TB sitting right beside it. I spent about 30 minutes playing with them side by side, and for those first 30 minutes, I was convinced I was sending the Fold 8 back. I even refused to put my SIM card in it. 😂
No UDC, no S Pen support, and I’m losing some inner-screen real estate. Those were all big negatives for me.
I started comparing the displays and immediately noticed that the colors on the Z Fold 6 are more vivid, while the Fold 8 has a cleaner, sharper-looking display. But honestly, I was mostly noticing all the things my Fold 6 could do that the Fold 8 couldn't.
So I sat the Fold 8 down for about an hour and walked away from it.
When I came back, I picked it up again and just started using it instead of constantly comparing it to my Fold 6 side by side.
That's when I fell in love with it.
There's just something about that wider aspect ratio. Once I stopped looking for everything the Fold 8 was missing and actually started using the phone, it started to feel completely different.
Then it hit me: this thing is actually better than my Fold 6. 🤦♂️
And of course, instead of just being happy with that realization, I immediately went into a whole new spiral thinking…
"Damn, should I have gotten the Fold 8 Ultra?" 🤣
I had a Z Fold 7 and it altered the way I carried and used phones in a bad way. A slab phone became my daily carry. If a foldable fits someone's lifestyle that's great! But you have to be honest with yourself about how you will use it. $2000 phone, IP48, frequent outdoor use. Thermals? New type of screen. I'll let everyone give it a real world test first.
I think the Fold 8 wide will do what most people do with a phone. Email, social media, video, inside camera shots. It does those things VERY well evidently. A winner for Samsung, but not for everyone. Fortunately you can hit about every size slab/foldable price point in in the Samsung lineup. Something for everyone.
They call this a "phone", but in all the reviews I've watched nobody has ever had it up to their ear using it as a "phone". I wonder how awkward this form factor is when it's in telephone mode?
If only the Z fold 8 still had flex mode, and a third telephoto camera. Seemed a waste that they did not include those
I went to ATT to check out the phone, the Z fold 8 and the Z fold 8 Ultra which looks great. My device currently is the Z fold 7. But I think i'm gonna wait until the fold nine.Cause I hear the camera aray is going to be similar to what it's going to be on the S 27 Ultra.
When iPhone gets to Ultra 3 with bigger and cheaper price I will upgrade from my 17 Pro Max to a foldable.
I admire the innovation Samsung continues to push. I had a chance to toy around with it at Bestbuy and the form factor felt so natural. I'm so tempted to ditch my iPhone and pick this up instead.
There's nothing pro-grade about the "Ultra" cameras. Yes, the 200mp main is better… But the 4yr old 3x 10mp telephoto is the worst zoom lens on any foldable. There's nothing Ultra about the Ultra.
This is the way to do fold properly, Samsung nailed it now with 8
The cover display doesn't have the anti-reflective coating. Buy the film from Samsung. Makes a huge difference!
