Why American Gen Z (Will) Lead the Next Revolution

Gen Z protests are toppling corrupt governments…except for the United States. But why? We reflect on past revolutions, all the factors needed for a revolt to happen, why it hasn’t happened yet, and why it’s going to happen in America anyway…whether we want it to or not.

  1. I honestly don’t have faith that our generation will legitimately do anything due to how desensitized we’ve become, and because the media and our government overload us with terrible shit (and probably pay people to make memes about it) that were too dossile to do anything.

At this point, I’m convinced that the thing that’ll actually make people revolt will be over something so fucking stupid, like video games being outlawed or some shit like that.

I hope I’m wrong though. I want to be proven wrong

  2. Hey! Moroccan here, even do after our protests for the health and education our country still needs lots of improvement, lots of rights are taken away because of our countries leaders in place are not that good, they only care about the higher classes… But hopefully we'll make this country better we will never loose hope, Gen Z will make this country a better place with luck but mostly with our determination, still lots to accomplish but nothing impossible.
I loved the message of the video btw, your story telling is incredible, i hope you blow up more.
PS : Btw this is why lots of younger and older moroccans migrate and move to other countries

  3. Because they gave us the desire for freedom and justice in a society where those things were really only meant as sweet little nothings to tell a bovine populace of pro war, pro genocide, pro them being exploited boomers.

  4. Revolutions occur because of the over-production of elites; that new class of envious, over-educated, people are the ones that run the game. The ONLY way this will happen is if GenZ is co-opted by a new class of envious elites masquerading as a movement. This is already happening with the DSA. Most of their members are college educated with useless degrees and they are all competing for the few positions at the top. GenZ has done everything possible to alienate themselves from Millennials for some reason as well. So they won't find any real support from them.

  5. Revolution is just another word for civil war.
Which isn't to say that it shouldn't happen, but picturing Gen Z going into the trenches with 50 million Americans for seven years (and hopefully not installing a Lenin or Napoleon after), doesn't seem realistic.
"Rapture" is another word people throw around to avoid making any actual changes and wait around for something else to happen.

  6. What will stop true revolution? Energy weapons like the ones they used on the Venezuelan army as Trump kidnapped their president. The energy weapons made the soldiers so sick that they couldn't stand. They'll use that on protestors in a revolution.

  7. I imagine due to blm I made it harder for gen z or normal people to protest. But due to that one day I think people will riot, Slaughter, And burn. Nepal didn't just protest but burned every government building. We will to with how this year has shaped up

  8. This was not in the United States, but in Australia last week thousands (possibly tens of thousands, but there's no official count) of teenagers organized a walkout to protest the far right party One Nation and their leader Pauline hanson. Gen Z definitely has it in em'!

  9. Y’all giving younger generations too much credit. They can’t fix the world. I don’t think most actually know what’s wrong with it. Actually no, I know they don’t. Sad thing is… if they just admit defeat in some things they can gain some great if not hard to believe feats to solve the problems they do know about.

  10. GenZ lack the knowledge of politics pre 2000. To understand the horrors of Reagan whilst my grandma drooled on about how handsome he was was a conundrum itself. My black grandmother voted for a "hot" celebrity that eventually hurt black households years later.

  11. Gen Z didnt witness the 99% protests like I did in 2009 on Wall street. However the anguish and hopelessness theyve had put on them from generations of unsuccessful protests is why they dont care enough to revolt. They know the country is too far gone.

  12. The real revolutionaries (as opposed to reactionaries) understand that the material conditions of mutual aid and institutions parallel to the state must be built out a lot more to minimize the suffering that is inevitable in revolution.

  13. Actually NO.
Unemployment is not just natural or incidental, it's manufactured on purpose, economic choices are made with the intent of preventing it from dropping below 4-5%.
Because if every would-be worker has a stable life, suddenly the corporations have to compete over workers rather than the other way around. It'd reverse the power imbalance. And the wealthy can't have that. They got their current riches by subjugating and exploiting the working class, and to maintain that wealth they need to continue that exploitation.

  14. I put car parts together for a living. Whenever you're done with your revolution, if you don't line me up on the wall for things others of my race did in the past, I'll still be putting car parts together. I have no ability to leave my job now without going homeless and I know that when the socialist revolution happens the state won't let me leave it, either. Someone has to put car parts together and that someone is me. That was the role given to me at birth. Feudalism, capitalism, or socialism, the outcome is the same.
