🗓️ *I Left Everything Behind to Live in Japan – August 2026* 🇯🇵🚐🌿🗻

This week, I wanted to share something a little different.
A few years ago, I made a radical decision: I left behind a comfortable life, a stable career, and almost everything I owned to start a new life in Japan.
Japan has been part of my story for a very long time, ever since my years at Hokkaido University and my life in Sapporo.
But at some point, I realized that the life I had built was no longer enough.
I wanted something simpler.
More freedom.
More adventure.
More time to simply look around and enjoy the world.
So I sold my furniture, my clothes, my belongings, and started again with almost nothing.

🚐 A New Life on the Road:
Today, my small camper van has become my home.
It may be tiny, but it gives me something that a much bigger home never could: the freedom to wake up somewhere different whenever I want.
No fixed schedule.
No predefined route.
Just the road, the Japanese landscape, and the next place waiting to be discovered.

🌿 Discovering Japan Differently:
Living this way has allowed me to discover another side of Japan.
Quiet villages, forgotten roads, mountains, temples, coastlines, and places far away from the usual tourist routes.
Sometimes the most beautiful moments are the simplest ones — waking up beneath the Japanese sky, finding a quiet place to spend the night, or sharing a small moment with a stranger.

🌸 A Different Way of Living:
Life on the road isn’t always easy.
There is solitude, limited space, and uncertainty about what tomorrow will bring.
But perhaps that’s precisely what makes it meaningful.
The road has taught me to slow down, appreciate the seasons, and realize that we don’t actually need very much to be happy.
A small place to sleep.
Something to cook.
And the curiosity to keep going.
