Is the Model Y L a good 3-row SUV? We’re finally getting behind the wheel of the 2027 Tesla Model Y L to answer exactly that. For years, buyers wanting a 3-row Tesla SUV had to squeeze into the cramped optional third row of the standard 2027 Tesla Model Y or shell out big bucks for a larger vehicle. Now, Tesla has stretched its best-selling vehicle to create a true family hauler.
When comparing the Tesla Model Y vs. Model Y L, the differences in size and length are immediately obvious. The 2027 Tesla Model Y L is 7 inches longer overall and has a 6-inch-longer wheelbase than the standard Model Y. This extra space transforms it into a genuine six-seat Model Y with second-row captain’s chairs. You get a maximum of 31 inches of third-row legroom, making it far easier to install child safety seats, secure regular car seats, or even fit actual adults comfortably.
On the performance front, it retains the punchy horsepower and acceleration you expect from a Tesla, hitting 0-60 mph in a brisk 4.4 seconds. When it comes to the Model Y L range, the EPA estimates a very solid 325 miles on the standard 19-inch wheels.
But what about the Tesla Model Y L’s price? The Launch Series currently comes in at $63,380. While that is a step up from the base models, the added utility and impressive 3-row Tesla Model Y passenger space make it a seriously compelling package. Stick around as we test out this brand-new EV!

  1. The new third row in the Model Y L will grab much of the attention, but the rest of the SUV is worth covering too. Performance and comfort have improved, and if it can hit its range targets, you'll only be giving up a few miles compared to the regular Model Y. What about the Model Y L is most appealing to you? Let us know in the comments below!

  2. 3 row seat are more for children, and that’s good the only problem I have is they should have make a screen there to or a big screen like in Nio EL8 so kids can see movie

  3. Not many people talk about this, but the overall build quality interior and exterior is very good. 3rd row is only for kids, but can be folded thus allowing for more cargo space.

  4. Love y’all site! I have a 2021 Tesla Y, all wheel drive. I have noticed that my capacity has dropped from 405 miles to 265 miles at 100% charge. Is this normal degradation? Is there anyway that I can check this out or increase the capacity? I was looking at getting a new EV in the next year, but am concerned that the political climate may not be the best time to do that. I was wanting to look at the Chinese EVs but that may not happen for another 2 years. I do however love the Tesla Y L. Thanks again for a great app

  5. I'm not going to make too much of an argument here, but I think that's why they originally said they didn't want to bring it to the United States market: people in China and in Asia are significantly less large, to be politically correct as I can. For them, it's definitely not a problem, and you can even see that in the marketing videos. In the U.S., where people are extraordinarily large, it's definitely not ideal. Still pretty spacious, don't get me wrong, especially for the price, but it's not what Americans would expect for an American-sized 200-300 lb. person.

  6. Hey just wanted to point out you EASILY could have fit the larger suitcase in the trunk. You just needed to lift the sub trunk divider, it has magnets that hold it in place to allow for easy loading

  7. Video should mention what’s included in the launch edition, basically all the options you can spec out, plus a bunch of premium services FSD, super charging and app streaming. If you don’t need those, just wait, it will be cheaper. They have no competition in this segment or price range. And no it’s not a car for 6 adults over 6ft, who the F the family of that size you better get a mini van or suburban

  8. Sure wish Tesla would design that 3rd row so it could just be removed for more storage. Don't need electric fold down and heated seats there. And not everyone needs that 3rd row, and many people would appreciate the space.

  9. The third row isn’t comfortable nor its spacious for adults. Even it’s uncomfortable for the kids so I don’t recommend this shit. I was so dumb to spend $$ for the 3rd row seating.

  10. Adjusting both the first and second row for people over 6ft and then complaining that the third row is just barely enough for a 6ft tall adult seems like cherry picking. The average family will likely not have 6 people all taller than 6 ft. If you test the car for a combination of someone around 6ft or a little more in one row, someone around 5 ft 10 in another row, you can still comfortably fit someone of around 5 ft 9 to 5 ft 10 in the other row. What would be more of a problem is trying to fit 2 heavy people in the back row (in our beautiful US we do have too many obese people) due to width back there.

  11. So, NO, this does not have 6 seats. It has 4 and 2 seats for children under the age of 12. If teenagers… It will not work. Nor can you take a trip anywhere as there is zero space for luggage.

  12. Toyota …. Best for their philosophy?? When FORD Ranger put a wet-leather timing belt instead of Toyota steel-timing chain?? I told my-self there goes WW2 P-51 Mustang dog-fighting with Mitsubishi ZERO!! Looking at your opponent ( big smile in his face ) next the Japanese 🇯🇵 Toyota fighter pilot shoots a single bullet onto your leather timing belt (YOU GO DOWN 7000feet) wait for tow truck to give you lift home………..🏠waiting!!
