I thought the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is the foldable this year. But after spending the last couple of days using both the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the Z Fold 8 Ultra, my opinion completely changed.

Sht I want both…..
I went to Best buy to take a look at both. I get what you're saying 💯 on paper the Ultra is the better choice but I found myself liking the non-ultra one more and kept going back to that one. It just feels so good in the hand and even though the camera is the less better one, the photos still were not bad! Way better than the folds I seen in the past lool. I have never had a fold though. I would be coming from an S24 Ultra.

This is a little long but worth the read from someone who tried to replace a Fold 7 with a Fold 8. I just returned the Fold 8 and ordered the Fold 8 Ultra. As a multigenerational Fold user with the Fold 7 as my current phone, the Fold 8's smaller but wider screen was extremely appealing and seemed like a better option for me, but my real-world experience tells a different story. The smaller but wider outside screen renders weird resolutions for some apps with stretching or overlaps; the shorter screen = a ton more scrolling, meaning you constantly need to open the phone and then rotate to portrait mode because the 4:3 ratio in horizontal mode equates to less vertical scrolling space; the inside camera hole is distracting so you will naturally rotate it so it is in the bottom right corner but this also places the volume and power buttons awkwardly along the bottom and harder to reach; sometimes the font sizes are too small depending on the app, and changing the display settings further messes with the resolution causing inconsistent size issues when scrolling Reels, etc.; the cameras are meh and definitely inferior to the Ultra's cameras.
Again, I love the concept, and it may be great for watching videos or movies, but I didn't find it a viable replacement for getting work done on my phone. If the Fold 8 works for you, awesome! But if you are trying to decide if the Fold 8 is a good replacement for a productivity phone, you will be better off with the Fold 8 Ultra. My ideal phone would be something like an S26 Ultra-sized outside screen, which would equal a nice larger inside screen. I know, I know… It sounds like it would be extremely heavy, but with the amazing thinness Samsung is achieving with foldables these days, I bet the weight and dimensions would be comparable to an S26 Ultra or iPhone 17 Pro Max. Maybe Samsung has this coming next year and will call it the Fold 9 Ultra Plus. 😜

ULTRA! ZFold 8, nice but, I would have stuck with my S26 Ultra (which I got $1400 from BB, NICE) if the ZFold 8 was the only option. I have had the Ultra for a day now with the LTE version of Watch 9 and it is amazing, AMAZING! If you have the cash, get the Ultra and the Watch 9 LTE!
It just makes no sense to me that they made the "regular' Fold 8 camera worse than the Fold 7.
Your review is very 1 sided. You forced more attention to one phone and not the other. You didn’t bother letting ppl know about the Z fold ultra productivity.
Lol, i giggled. The Fold 8 is a downgrade. Great phone but its still a downgrade. You bought a foldable. Open it up and enjoy the telephoto lens, Flex Mode, bigger battery ect.

I don't understand why not come up with two phones with same qualities but the buyer choice eould remain with the dimentions on both screens. They have the technology so🎉 why not to apply the best features to both, removed the black edges in both, improve sound quality, flex mode since all folds have…I was waiting for with a pen version to change my samsung fold 5 but it seems they wont have it soon. I had Galaxy Note 23 and it was an amazing phone i can't compare the photo quality with my Fold 5. Can you make a comparison of the photo qualities with these and S ultra series, I think the last one was 8..

Huge benefit of the umtra that no one mentions is if you use subtitles, they partially appear in the black box instead of directly over the video. Also though media is smaller when closes. I typically like it that way unless using full-screen because then incan read more info vs on the 8. The ultra is almost if not always able to display more info and the media is very slightly smaller. But this is a phone, not a t.v.
A $2000 investment that people depend on so much, that does not fit into a pocket that you can zip, snap, or velcro, closed, is much more likely to be dropped. Seriously, I bought watch ⌚ for this reason, the less I have to pull the phone 📱 out, the less chance of damage to it. Hands free mounting in a vehicle is another concern, certainly set up your 🗺️ maps in advance while you're parked, but as a truck driver you'll use this to find places every single day. There are laws in some countries now that prohibit vehicle manufacturers to install a "screen facing the driver." I have a Z flip 4 and it can do everything I need it to, I might have folded it now…in 3 years…a handful of times. So the flip or fold feature isn't needed at all times, it's only handy when you're parked, but it is useful.
The size is the thing that drive me the most to get the z fold 8. The phones I feel like are getting larger and I can stand how too heavy they feel. I don’t like having to use two hands to hold my phone and I don’t like the gymnastics to reach the top of the screen. That’s one thing that makes me nostalgic about older phone is just how nice they would sit in my hands. I have small hands so I feel like the z fold 8 is the only answer. I just wish it had the better camera quality and flex mode 😢
I want to get the z fold 8. I was Samsung before and switched to I phone because everyone I know aside from my husband has I phone and they like to FaceTime as we live far away but I think I might just get this. Would be my first foldable and I think Samsung is way better. I have the I phone 16 pro max and I’m not impressed with it. It’s very basic and the features like the side buttons are unnecessary. They put their effort in the wrong places. People are telling me to wait because iPhone is coming out with a foldable but I already know it will be the same basic shit except folding. Plus with I phone I can’t play some of the games I like to play. I’m trading my phone is asap
I want the smaller one. I like how it opens passport style and the screen is wider when closed

The naming sucks; they should have called it the Fold 8 mini or wide.

bro ur first point about reading on the foldables and u got the fold 8 the wrong way for that… use it in portrait why would u read a book in landscape…. RIP
