This TV anime began airing on April 5, 1996, as the third work in the Alternative Series. It depicts the recurrence of a global war and its aftereffects from the viewpoint of the planet Earth which had suffered unprecedented destruction in the previous colony drops, focusing on the crew of the Vulture ship Freeden.

Through the conflict between the Freeden, the New United Nations Earth, and the Space Revolutionary Army, the story follows Garrod ‘s growth as he struggles to protect Tiffa, as well as the grand theme of Newtypes who transcend humanity. It also drew attention for featuring many mobile suits with innovative new designs, in addition to Gundam types such as the Gundam X and DX.

  1. Bloodman want to make newtypes slave for the oldtypes of UNE

Rasso want to make oldtypes slave for the newtypes of SRE

They don't want both of them coexist with each other, truly ironic

  2. 3:50 When Roybea says that "Hell sounds kinda pleasant about right now" the way he and Witz glance at each other makes me think of their focus episode a while back. I'd never caught that before now.

  3. I can imagine the North American resistance was formed after the events on Seins islands that had forced the autonomous Settlements, Vultures, and independent mobile suit riders to unite and rebel against the NUNE similar to what the Death Star did the Alderaan in Star Wars.

  4. Honestly, I think Garrod and Tiffa have the best love story in Gundam. While Domon and Rain's love defeated the Dark/Devil Gundam with a literal love attack, it took to the end of the series for Domon to realize it. Garrod had a crush on Tiffa for about as long as he met her, and seeing Tiffa open up is so heartwarming too.

  5. 0:12 Previously…
0:52 The NUNE finally deploy their Daughtress Neos. Despite still going down as easily as the old Daughtress units or the just-as-new Balients.
1:23 Not so different from a gulag. Or an arbeitslager…
2:25 Poor Virsago and Ashtaron didn't get upgraded in the opening… (Well, four episodes left.)
2:48 Today's episode title oddly reminds me of Rapunzel's (Goddess of Victory: Nikke) victory line (in JP, voiced by Suzuko Mimori):
"So long as we never give up hope, we will also emerge victorious."
3:13 Wasteland, heading north. There's only one place on Earth that's like that.
3:24 And Ennil provides the answer. Incidentally, part of OZ's (Gundam Wing) Gundam destruction operation was set in Siberia, and the initial setting of Overman King Gainer is a domed city in Siberia (it's a post-apocalypse setting too, like Gundam X and Eureka Seven–no wonder they fit so well together in Another Century's Episode 3).
3:43 Witz and Roybea went from hired Gundam pilots to loyal Freeden crew…
5:10 The sped-up pace feels really prominent here.
5:34 Near the border with Ukraine… Also where the biggest tank battle of World War II took place.
    6:28 Humanity's homeland… A bit scarred, but she's a beaut, ain't she?
    6:31 to 6:37 Ain't that the truth.
7:12 Pala reminding me of a certain "duck" VTuber… ("OMAEEE!!!")
7:40 Bloodman's meeting room made me remember the conference room at that Imperial lodge in the Maltheen Divide (Andor Season 2).
10:30 Really says a lot about our world's current state of affairs when Rasso and Bloodman remind you of certain individuals in real life calling themselves "world leaders" today (at least, those who lean authoritarian)…
    11:46 Classic "Newtype Flash"…
13:40 I know enough World War II history to know where this is going…
    14:09 Roll credits…
14:16 Made it just in time, too.
17:26 Like taking out the Hresvelgr (Ace Combat Zero). Or Aigaion (Ace Combat 6).
18:48 Encountering the Frost brothers has that effect on a poor grunt.
19:19 Garrod is still a teenage boy, after all…
19:44 Cognac, or very old whisk(e)y?
20:28 Buttering up the old f*rt…
21:24 That has nothing to do with the current discussion.
22:05 Yeah, Pala is as loud as Oozora Subaru. (I know, this anime was from before Hololive… Just hilarious in hindsight.)
22:48 Quite the spot to end today's episode…
23:40 (Preview) Rasso starts purging the SRA's moderates.

With four episodes left, all roads lead to D.O.M.E.

  6. This series is so good, I wish it had more episodes to quell my thirst for Gundam X. Not gonna lie, it does start slow, but from the Lorelei Sea arc to the end it's an awesome thrill.
