Don’t get surprised by this glass on a call.
Most firefighters expect glass to act like a windshield. Hit it, and it clears out. This glass doesn’t. It’s plate glass with a layer of laminate sandwiched inside, so it shatters into a spiderweb and stays in one piece.
Assistant Chief Andrew Lezza shows why even a doggie door cut through it still won’t come free. The section stays together instead of falling away, so every cut takes longer than crews expect.
