  1. Yep, still using my oppo n2 flip after so many years (since purchasing it). It's gone thru a lot and then oppo fixed it for free (+gave swag) hence STILL using it today. Guttered haven't seen any new one(after N3) so I'm no doubt just getting the best model up

  2. I think the fold 8 is a good upgrade from fold 5 and 6, I just got the 8 ultra and wow. Form factor is goated for what I do for work. Wide will just push me to watch more videos I need to chill.

  3. The $1900 price tag is a lot easier to swallow when you're getting it as part of a monthly subscription from your provider, rather than paying it all at once. But I agree, $1900 is too much to pay for a phone overall.

  4. Interior screen break , they are super fragile… google fold 7 … the 8 will have a similar track record. Nice shiny phone (i would love) but if you do buy it , you need insurance. The push to buy folding phones is pushed inorganically….don’t get hooked because of influencers…

  5. My favourite thing about super expensive tech is that it be incredibly easy to break. Top priority. If I can’t easily accidentally junk $2000 it’s not worth my time.

  6. As a loooong time Pixel (and formerly Nexus) user, I am now buying a Samsung for the first time, currently on the P9 Fold, which was my first foldable ever. But the format of the Fold 8 really hits the mark for me, it strikes a really good balance between the really restrictive flip and traditional fold designs.

  7. Fold 8 is pretty close to what I expected from folding phones, the only improvements I want now are further crease reductions and proper spen support, as no spen on that large screen is a crime. I'm looking forward to fold 9 and 10, I'm sure we'll se further improvements there, and I'll probably end up buying one of them in the next couple years.

  8. I disagree about the front cover. I love it and find myself not opening it as much as I thought. Also, the price is 1900, but if you have att, they will give you 1k back, for your old flagship phone, as long as the phone turns on and the battery isn't exploding, so I'm paying 900. Still a lot, but less than I spent on the z fold 4. I find myself truly liking this phone

  9. Not gonna lie i was hoping they'd figure out a way to make the phone adapt to the video resolutions, as to not have black bars during viewing. But no, they made a smaller size fold to accomodate.

  10. Have had my ZF8 almost a month replacing a ZF7. ZF7 was more powerful with smoother scrolling and better response but ZF8 is very good. Battery life is about the same really. I get less use out of ZF8 folded as being used to the tall narrow form of the ZF7 makes it difficult to use this small screen. However, I love the ZF8 more unfolded and I unfold it most of the time whereas the Zf7 always felt awkward unfolded.

  11. I dunno, the fold just seems like a solution to the problem that… doesn’t exist. Why would I pay that much for a phone that is not a great phone or a great tablet? I feel like I could get an s25 and a tablet for less than the $2000 it will cost to own just a phone (with a case and taxes) that I’ll be able to buy for at least 30% off in a few weeks by Thanksgiving.

  12. The Samsung Z Tri Fold is my primary device and yes I do put it in my pocket and carry it with me. It is the best foldable you can get in the United States. I even use it to replace my laptop, except for Windows software of course. It is great for watching movies but it is not as short as the Z Fold 8, which means you don't have to turn it in portrait mode every time you want to use a portrait app. Normal apps like Facebook and Instagram can run with the wide screen open because the phone is as tall as a Z Fold 7. For me the Z Fold 8 outer screen is just too small, which means I would be opening it all the time so I might as well buy a tablet in that case.

If I were to buy either of the newer phones, it would be the Z Fold 8 Ultra for the bigger battery, the bigger screen, the telephoto camera, stereoe speakers in landscape mode, or the higher resolution screen. Those are my thoughts. Now I am waiting for the Samsung Z Tri-Fold 2 that is supposed to come out next year.

  13. As a hard core iphone guy i switched to foldables in 2020 or was it 21 w/e, have to say this is a gimmick to me had a foldable for 1 year and was bored with the concept. Not gonna mention the stupid ratios that bothing fits right on these phones

  14. Z-Flip 8 makes sense because it provides a full phone experience with less phone.

Z-Trifold makes sense because it actually provides a full phone AND a full tablet experience.

Z-Fold 8 Ultra provides a full phone experience but it's tablet experience is meh, not really a game changer, it will just make you want to grab your real tablet instead.

Z-fold 8 doesn't do neither well, it is to small of a phone at 5.5inches and also to small of a tablet at 7.6inches, simply not worth it.

Long story short, I think the future of foldables lies in two form factors: Trifolds and Flips.

  15. I already bought it. I tried it on my Google Pixel 9 Pro XL with AT&T and I got $1k in trade-in credit, so I'm paying around $800 with my plan. It's not hard, guys, if you want it, just get it.

  16. I never understood flex mode. Ive tried using before and it was just akward. I barley ever take pictures. So i dont care about cameras. What i do is consume content. So the 4:3 aspect ratio is freaking awesome for me. I did buy the fold 8 and man this thing is such a joy. Battery life MUCH better than my iphone 14pro. And reading comics is a lot of fun on this thing. Yeah its really expensive, but with trade in offers you can get the price down. Im not paying that much more a month compared to my iphone 14pro

  17. I want a fold but Samsung's arent perfect yet, Oppo has the perfect fold but they dont have a US model. I feel like Samsung is going to stop making them before they make them perfect and i will never get to get one smh. Selling essentially an R&D product for 2k is crazy.

I also dont know y they make the fold "ultra" skinnier. I want it to be the same width as the S26 but be foldable, also the same cameras, the built in privacy screen on front and back, mag safe, fast charging (60w+ wired), no hindge crease, and the inside screen come with more free replacements or they find some way to make it more scratch resistant. And same thing with the Flip too, i dont want it to feel like a budget option, i just want it to be a different form factor instead of a slab phone bc it is nice to have the option for a smaller phone with the same real-estate as a regular slab phone

  18. Flex mode isn't that bad from a mechanical point of view on the Fold 8. It works for me. It stays open if the camera is on the bottom, because the back then is lighter. Also works much better with certain cases. Because of the camera protection on the case, it makes it even more stable. Obviously the big issue is the software support. Still it works for most things in some respect. And looks cool.
