Nope, even after 50 years of playing acoustic, the B, and high E don't ring. I have found that my pointer finger naturally rolls (I can't get it to lie flat if I want to). My thought is, after 50 years of playing, it must be the cheap ass Chinese Epiphone that I have (paid only about $150 at GC). Thanks for the lesson, though.
Yep can't get that B string to sing
I’m so thankful I stumbled across this video. The way you explained it was phenomenal
i am now flexing my left thumb muscle like i flex in gym after a good workout
2nd day of trying the F chord. 4 out of 6 strings ring out. B (2nd thinnest) and E (thickest) are muted. It's super hard. I feel like no matter how hard i pull towards myself, or how hard i use that muscle on my hand, i can't do it.
Thannk you for this video…REALLY APPRECIATE YOU. Struggling so hard but you make it seem achievable <33333333
He kinda looks like Norm McDonald
THANK YOU for this. I have avoided the F chord for 30 years being friend taught and self-taught. Your video is the first time that it clicked in my brain. You changed my life today. ❤
I like this guy Justin, he gives you confidence not to give up and keep trying!!
Thank you!
Thats cool. U taught me something new today. F bar chord is moveable..
The f chord made my finger into a roasted sausage on a grill in imprinted that mark on the side of my index finger and Jesus Christ my left hand is literally hurting like crazy…..WOWWWWW but idk why this is addictive to play satisfies my ego every time I get it right.
Fun fact whenever I argue with my gf and loose(everytime) I play f chord just to reassure that I can do the impossible
My giant hands that I have been cursing for the last 3 months coming into their own now…finally!
Thank you! My index finger hurts, the bottom two strings sound buzzy and my back hurts in a special way from all those moves. My F chord journey begins. 😅
super late to the party but I find that I get the most consistency if my arm is like nearly parallel to the guitar's neck, is that just how it is in my case or could doing it like this this cause issues later?
The thumb trick it is!
F cord is right.
Im going on quit again UGH!!!!
Don't bore us get to the chorus. I fell asleep waiting for the lesson
Realize I'm late to the party…but wanted to say that portion of the video where you used your phone to show finger position from the player's perspective was REALLY helpful to this beginner. Thank you.
The only way I can play this carpal tunnel chord is to use my thumb on the first fret, top string and use my index finger on first fret like a mini F chord, but it sounds whole and I hit all the strings. If I try to barre the first fret with the index finger, I get a dead note on the second string from the bottom. But, I keep trying to barre during practice anyway. Maybe someday I'll get it. Thanks for the video!!!
The rollover trick is pretty useful, the strings ring out!
I cant do a barr chord at all all!!! Is there an easier way??
I loved your course. I've been playing bass and guitar since I was 13, picking it up and putting it down multiple times over the years. Now at 30 I'm starting again after a long break, and your anatomical explanation made me notice something that had always puzzled me but that I never bothered to look into.
It turns out I have clinodactyly in both index fingers. In my case they curve toward the middle finger, so when I try to barre it's like pressing two opposing bows (Something like this ")(" thing). The pressure ends up concentrated on strings 3 and 4 at the center of the fretboard, and if I shift my hand position I can only get string 6 or string 2 to sound clearly. If I force it hard enough I can get all of them to sound, but it basically feels like trying to straighten a bow.
In my country the most common guitar is the classical, which has much softer strings and a completely flat fretboard with no radius. I just tried one we have at home and sure enough, I can play an F barre chord with no effort at all.
I'm starting to think I'm probably not a bad guitarist. I just never found an electric guitar that actually works with my crooked fingers.
Thank you!!
Like how tf are you rotating one finger almost 90 degrees and keeping the rest straight. It feels biologically impossible
This instruction nailed it for me. Thank you. Now my hand is relaxed and doesn't hurt anymore.
