“I AM ASHAMED AND APOLOGISE.” The woman at the centre of the viral “We Are Gen Z” Ladakh video has broken her silence and expressed regret over the confrontation.
The woman apologised to the Indian Army, Jammu & Kashmir Police and Ladakh Police, saying she never intended to insult the armed forces. She described the episode as the “biggest lesson” of her life and said she would think before speaking in the future.
She also explained that the viral footage was recorded earlier and later resurfaced online. According to Ladakh Police, the incident dates back to around July 26, when traffic was temporarily restricted near the Minimarg check post during a security movement.
The woman said frustration after waiting for several hours led to the confrontation and admitted that some of the things she said were wrong.
The viral “We Are Gen Z” remark triggered a huge social-media debate, with J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also reacting to the controversy.

I feel systems do need to evolve, in spite of security, to ensure that the public is not put to difficulty due to VIP Movement. Halting traffic for five to six h is avoidable. Should not be more than 15 to 20 mins. Anyone can lose their cool after travelling for a long time on winding mountain roads. Perhaps some good will come out of this incident. This clearly indicates that Gen Zs are misinformed. Something needs to be done about it.
