I rebuilt the original 1996 Tomb Raider in Godot : Lara Croft, the Lost Valley, and the PS1 graphics, all from scratch.
In this video:
• Extracting the Lara Croft model from Tomb Raider I-III Remastered
• How Tomb Raider’s skeletal animation system works
• Tomb Raider’s grid-based movement and fixed camera, explained
• Running 1996 DOS data underneath 2024 remaster graphics
• Recreating PS1 graphics: affine texture mapping, vertex snapping, CRT blur
• The Lost Valley T-Rex
Crystal Dynamics is remaking Tomb Raider in Unreal Engine 5 (Legacy of Atlantis,
2027). Tomb Raider turns 30 this year.

Very cool
That's crazy, I'm building a very similar project at the moment but building evening from scratch. Haven't started implementing animations yet but yours looked perfect. Do you plan to release the character controller? The level editor community would almost certainly go wild for it
wait, you're running the actual 1996 DOS data underneath the 2024 remaster graphics? how does that even sync up
Very impressive! Can you share build with encryption of assets and code or complete sources including python scripts for educational purposes please 🙏?
The real Lara.
How is this man just casually writing programs to rip the models, animations, weight painting etc as if its easy
Wow that was so impressive, well done, praise worthy !
I remember playing this when it was released on the PlayStation 1.
You ARE really handsome
1:43 "After a few tries… there she is: solid, lit, head attached at the factory position"
The braid: (⊙_⊙;)
How did you subdivide the vertexes in Godot? I mean did you use a shader for this or did you have to modify the whole floor in blender to add more vertexes? I also struggled with this problem for a while
Tomb Raider ❌️
Tomb Ryder ✅️
@6:59 Hell no. The PC version is THE version for me because i was always a PC guy and not a console guy (i only own a Famicom clone) so sadly you are not fixing it for me, just making it uglier.
Cant believe this guy is recreating my favorite games from 1990s, Diablo and TR. Impressive work!
6:59 – wrong, I only remember the DOS version since I never owned any console.
can u recreate 3d spiderman ps1 game in godot?
hiya! it'd be super helpful if u could disclose the use of AI tools in places like video editing or writing code ;-; mainly so that people become more aware of what these tools can do nowadays and to what extent, otherwise we all kinda become more and more clueless and no one will be able to discern stuff made by humans vs stuff made by AI in the future ;-; transparency is always good!
That transition from the Remaster to the OG was genuinely insanely cool and pretty damn impressive.
2:27 lol 🤣 This is really insane work btw!
Seems that many not know it, but Tomb Raider was originally developed for the Sega Saturn, not the PlayStation.
Impressive work!
Now, run that level in Godot in the PS1.
Your video editing skills are awesome
By the way this was awesome! Nice edit, and nice job. Tomb Raider 1996 is my favorite game of childhood (and warcraft II).
I wonder if this is legal and there is no copyright conflict. Did you investigate that?
How did you get the animations?
Also, is it possible to release the source code?
That's cool. Maybe you could look into the original Spyro trilogy next. It's textures on the PS1 were really giant.
0:22 i would rather have you stay as funny sausage
holy moly
Demake. Huh?
Hello 🙂
