  1. “Leaves from the vine falling so slow like fragile tiny shells drifting in the foam little soldier boy come Marching home brave soldier body comes marching home” – iroh to Lu Ten

  2. The fact we only see Iroh’s son once in a flashback when he’s a little boy hurts so much. Even if we never met Lu Ten…we know what his loss did to Iroh and how he misses him dearly. Losing his son did make him a better person, but still…no parent should have to bury their child 🥺

  3. I recently found out that Dante (VA fo Zuko) had done movies with Mako as a parental figure when he was younger. Rewatching this with that knowledge just kills me more. And "In honor of Mako" is the nail in the coffin

  4. when i first saw this, i was sad, but when i found out that mako, the voice actor of iroh found out he had cancer before this, i was just devastated. RIP Mako, rest in peace❤️

  5. RIP Mako, thank you for your dedication. You have left a lifelong lasting impression on many of us through your work. Now sleep well Little Soldier Boy and thanks again.

  6. Nearly 20 years have passed since this episode aired, yet IMO it is still one of the greatest scenes of all time in any animated show (and tv in general)

    RIP Makoto “Mako” Iwamatsu

Thank you for bringing Iroh (and a certain “shapeshifting master of darkness” from Cartoon Network) to life

  7. NONONONO WAIWAIWAIWAIT!

    Tears from the eyes,
    falling so slow.
My heart can't hold em' back,
    "Got no control.*

    Pain from in my soul,
    So deep within.
    Joy from the memories,
    remembering him.

  8. It's even sadder that the voice actor who sang this had to sing it almost right after learning he had lung cancer and later died shortly after he sang this song.

  9. Every time a fan asks Greg Baldwin to sing Leaves From The Vine, he had to kindly refuse to sing the song out of profound respect to Iroh’s original voice actor, Mako Iwamatsu and stated that the song was Mako’s.
