The mini F chord it's so freaking hard
Really good teacher I love you and the way you take time to explain
Hi Justin. I play in my church praise band several times a month. I play acoustic, plugged into the main sound system. I normally just play unplugged, because I love that sound. But I am noticing, and some other folks are noticing, that my strings buzz on some chords. Like a loud twang, not a gentle buzz. I think it is partly because I am playing standing up, and I think it changes my finger position. I took my guitar to my luthier, and he did adjust the neck for me. But still, the next time I played I still heard the buzz. I think it happens on the A, D and F chords mostly. Can you give me some hints as to what I might be doing wrong?
i went with mini F to play 21 guns, really not a fan to learn the full bar at that moment. it works pretty well.

Mini F and regular F were killing me.
6:39 Fixed my Mini F and regular F. Somewhere along the way, I started to allow my index to rest super far back.
7:06 helped with that mini F. For some reason I kept trying to force my fingers to be straight.

Thank you Justin. This really helps. I recently attempted a tabbed song that required a F#/D7 chord. You play the easy open D7 chord we all know but also play F# with thumb wrapped over the top of the neck onto the 6th string second fret. It feels like I'm breaking my wrist or causing carpel tunnel in my wrist. Needless to say I'm searching for an alternative chord. Craig Ewinger
I'm actually strong enough to get the F bar chord to ring out. The problem is that I'm not nearly skilled enough (yet) to get my fingers into position without screwing up the rhythm.

note for myself and others: 3:43 hmm i can’t get my middle and ring finger to touch in either C or Fmaj7. This may explain my struggle with chord changes when having to move these fingers together idk…
I use the "short cut" Variation of F (F maj7) especially when a Song is in the Key of C. This means there are tons of C to F transitions & each are only a little skip away from one another not to mention same Hand Position. With a fast TEmpo and when only playing Chords (vs Fingerpicking), there is little difference in the sound.
I have learn c major E major and minor G. A minor and D major can I learn songs though still having trouble with switching chords
pov: ur in ur three years journey of playing guitar on and off and you wonder why you still suck at the F chord and Fmaj7 is not making the cut.
Hi Justin, you are very good teacher. I play with classic guitar and so far have not managed F bar cord. I found mini F I can play with 4 fingers. There is no way my little finger can press 2 strings
I didn't expect barred chords to be so difficult. It will take time and patience.

if anyone is having trouble playing these chords , your guitar action might be too high especially if it's been laying around for a while. Mine was and it was making it hard to play .

I simply cannot mute to save myself. Whether it be C or any of the others. 4th month in and I’m still sounding like the 5yr old who grabbed dads bagpipes
If people are struggling doing the mini f like me. I did with my 1st finger on the 1st string and 2nd finger on the 2nd string both on the first fret. While putting my 3rd finger on the 3rd string 2nd fret and finally my pinky on the 4th string 3rd fret. Hope this helps 🙂

Thank you, Justin. I'm much older than most and probably have quit playing numerous times because of the flippin F chord. I was determined to learn how to play Hotel California. I hit a couple of F chords that were ok but not happy. I'm like that has got to be some tricks to this bar chord stuff. Yes I am a beginner and have been at it for 5 years. I run across your video. Bravo, well done. It's late but I will be hitting it again in the morning. I can't wait to watch this video again and try some of your suggestions. Awesome instruction.

If you tune the E string to F : and the A string to Bflat you can Play- A minor D minor Bflat and variations of C major and G minor pretty easily using top 4 strings ( D G B E )..Slap on a capo and play in accending keys as you move up the guitar using the same chord shapes.. it's impossible to use the 3rd finger to touch the fourth and fifth strings simultaneously for me….
Mini F chord doesn't help at all for me, I still can't get the 1st string to ring out

Two fingers anchored on the Fmaj7/c to C
So it looks like the first finger works as an anchor between Fmaj7 and C
