The 7Artisans AF 40mm f/2.5 is the newest, and cheapest, prime to join the L-Mount 40mm lineup, alongside the TTArtisans 40mm f/2 and the Panasonic Lumix 40mm f/2. At $159 it includes a programmable button and an AF/MF switch (features usually reserved for pricier lenses), and it works on any L-Mount body (Leica, Lumix, Sigma).
In this review I take the lens on a full road trip through Glacier National Park and Banff, covering landscape work, street photography, portrait separation, and night performance (including 7Artisans’ claimed “bubble bokeh”). I also compare it directly to the TTArtisans 40mm f/2, which I owned until this lens replaced it in my kit.
Shot entirely on the Panasonic Lumix S9.
