Why Can’t Gen Z Find A Job? – SOME MORE NEWS

Hi. The American job market, especially for young people, has changed drastically since the 1980s. Does that mean it’s all Reagan’s fault, or just mostly Reagan’s fault?

  1. It's gonna be real funny when these older generations calling us lazy have to pay the price for not helping young people out. Choke the young out of jobs, whose gonna replace you when you're getting ready to retire?

  2. I have been unemployed for six months. I applied for almost 100 jobs and only had one interview. I didn't get the job. I have over six years of experience. My resume, cover letter, and references page are impeccable. I have tips for everyone. Use staffing agencies if you can't find work on your own. That can help you find work quickly. Make a custom list of companies you want to work for. Apply for all of them directly on their websites. Use job boards like Indeed, Built In staffing, and others as well. Be humble too. Apply for gas stations, dollar stores, hardware stores, etc. I'm willing to work anywhere if it means I have income and won't face an eviction or homelessness. Lastly, if you apply for a job and have to use an AI assistant save the AI chat records. AI assistants regularly disqualify candidates who are a good fit because they aren't reliable. Call the HR department of a company that uses AI hiring screening to check on your application after 1-2 weeks. With any luck, they'll check your application and put you in the interview pool if the AI messed up by skipping over you. Good luck out there ya'll it's hard. But you know what they say. When the going gets tough the tough get going. So get going! Get a new job and keep building your life! If you have the money start a business baking, dog walking, or youtubing. The world isn't what we were told it was growing up. But we have to wear our big kid hats and make things happen. When you are served lemons make lemonade. Brb I have to go make some out of the lemons I already have! 🤣

  3. I tried for years to get the job I wanted for the degree I worked hard for. I did the right jobs but the pay was so low that I couldn’t survive. I barely survive on the salary I have now at a job that is difficult

  4. "Gen Z doesn't want to work hard" I am typing this at the tail end of a 16 hour shift. I had 8 hours between this shift and my last one, which was 12 hours. I averaged 60 hour weeks last year, and I'm very good with my money

I had to sell my fucking car because gas, insurance, and maintenance was getting too expensive and I simply don't make enough to purchase a reliable vehicle. Thankfully I live in a better area for transit, so my commute only tripled.

But yeah my bad, sorry for being lazy

  5. I think I learned from Cody or someone else that in the far past, a person can work for part of the year at minimum wage and live off of that for a while. Now, not only can you not live off of minimum wage since it was never adjusted for inflation, you would have to work a full time job or multiple part time jobs for an entire year every year just to make ends meet. I find that frustrating as well. I do not want to spend most of my year working just to barely be able to pay all my bills and necessities.

  6. Another aspect of this is that women are shamed out of those trade jobs. Every time I think of the classic trades they’re very male dominated, “women can’t do that much hard labor”, and I remember the stories from friends about all the sexist comments in said trades.

  7. One more time. Where did my job go ?

    Job gone ? Traded for

  8. 18:25 I hate when boomers/gen x’ers complain about gen z being “spoiled.” Even if that were true (and to the extent that it is for some) it wouldn’t be our fault. Last I checked, my generation was raised by y’all. So if you wanna complain about how spoiled we are and that “you don’t get participation trophies in real life,” you should be looking in a mirror.

  9. AI definitely has its legitimate uses. I read an article a while ago about how doctors are using AI tools to spot cancers, which is an awesome use of this tool. But as it stands now in relation to jobs, is that there will be a massive void in talent at the top as this transition blocks off these entry level jobs. That propagates through time to become an even bigger problem later, when it is expert skills that are now at a deficit.
Programmers are a prime example, with junior programmers being made at least partly obsolete. Now those nonexistent junior programmers become nonexistent senior programmers/dev Leads/project managers. You can't train 15 years experience in 4 years of school.
